CAFE' LIDIA: MARIKINA'S BEST KEPT SECRET

Cafe Lidia (pronounced as "Li-di-ya") is truly one of Marikina's Best Kept Secret! One of our Pokerfaces friends told us about this and we all planned to try it.

I searched the internet for blog reviews of Cafe Lidia, and well, I was convinced of what I've read. So it's a go! We decided to go there one Sunday evening even if reviews said that it's always jampacked on weekends.

For people who are not familiar around Marikina, it's kinda hard to find. But I suggest you try the route of Marcos Highway instead of coming from Marikina Bayan. It is located along Calderon Street in Calumpang, Marikina. Along Marcos Highway from Katipunan, take the U-Turn right after Ligaya then turn right to the street on your right. Actually, if you follow the jeepneys that have the Pasig-Marikina route, you'll easily find Cafe Lidia.

Here's the map going to Cafe Lidia, which I lifted from their Facebook page:

Since it is along the street, parking is hard to spot. But fret not, Cafe Lidia has a parking space just across the restaurant and there are parking crews around to guide you if the space is already full.

Cafe Lidia is definitely a homey place with a country-feel. At first I thought it was just small, but the restaurant extends to a much larger dining area at the back. The interiors will remind you of Cafe Juanita with lesser decorations. It is also well ventilated and the ambiance and lightning is very apt for casual and intimate date nights and get together with families and friends.

They have a wide array of food menu including appetizers, rice meals and pasta dishes, pizza, coffee and desserts. What I got curious about are the cakes, since I read from one review that it is comparable with that of Purple Oven's cakes. Their food menu kinda reminds me of Conti's, if in case you're wondering what type of food they're serving.

These are what we ordered:

mozarella cheese sticks
seafood marinara
baked penne
Salisbury Steak
Beef Kebab
House Special Pizza

And for the dessert, we ordered  Marshmallow Chocolate Cake. I swear that it tasted as good as it looked! It was heaven in a slice! LOL!

I have nothing to complain about their food. Everything we ordered didn't disappoint. All the good reviews for Cafe Lidia is true after all. Overall, it was a good foodie-trip experience! We promised to go back if our schedules permit.

With regards to their service and waiting time, I can't remember if we had any problems at all. Maybe we were just too busy chit-chatting and catching up that we didn't noticed how long it took them to serve our food. But if from memory the crews tell you after taking your orders that your food will be served in a certain length of time
