Weekend Getaway: Going Down Memory Lane - Tagaytay

Work has been stressful ever since and I make sure that I am able to balance work and leisure in my life…or else I'll burn myself out. Our holidays are not the same with people that have day jobs. We follow the US Federal holidays. So last US Labor day, we decided to drive our way up to Tagaytay. We all deserve some relaxation once in a while, a little compensation for working hard. Nothing bad about it right???? right!!!

After having lunch at one of Tagaytay's restaurant that serve the famous Batangas Bulalo, we came to an agreement to try out Memory Lane to have desserts.

I've been wanting to go to this place, but never had the chance… until now. I'm so curious about this place. Because I saw photos of it online, and it’s full of vintage stuff and is modeled after country houses in the U.S. We kind of got lost on our way there because we took a different route. But after a few u-turns we finally found it! This is what greeted us:

The parking attendant/guard gave us a flyer:

I don’t know why they have something like this. Might be because some folks just go there, take photos but don't order food..hehe

Anyway Memory Lane is a 50's/60's inspired country diner/gift shop/salon/spa, a one stop destination. It's fully decked up with vintage decors like the country homes in the U.S. I'm just fascinated with anything vintage. If given the chance I would want a country style home myself and I will adorn it with pretty and shabby decors.

Even the comfort room was not spared from the place's theme.

Dining Hall inside Memory Lane:

We stayed at the patio area so we can enjoy the cool Tagaytay breeze. It was definitely relaxing. It is tucked away in an area in Tagaytay were most luxe subdivisions are. So, it was peaceful and quiet the whole time that we were there.

Well except for a bunch of college students on the other side of the patio watching a UAAP basketball game on a laptop. They were cheering rowdily for their university's team. Thank God they left earlier than us.. which gave us more time to enjoy the serenity of the place.

We ordered just drinks and desserts.

Mom's Home-baked Prunes Pudding with Ice Ream Topping

Turon Ala Mode

Hot Cocoa

Iced Cocoa

I liked the pudding; especially that it comes with vanilla ice cream. Based on the reviews I've read about the food here, nothing was to rave about. Honestly, it was kind of expensive for the quality and taste. I'm just basing my opinion on what we have tried out. Maybe my opinion would change when I am able to sample the other entries from their menu. I'm looking forward to that!

At the back of Memory Lane's main building and beside the parking area is the Vintage Hall. It is Memory Lane's function room for exclusive events - birthdays, reunions, conferences, etc.

Memory Lane is surely a great place to just unwind and escape from the stress brought about by work and life in Manila. And truly an eye-candy!

Here's the map of to Memory Lane which I grabbed from their Facebook page:
