J. Cuppacakes at SM Jazz Makati: Art in Your Cravings!

Last Sunday, after accompanying our friend Jai to her second wedding gown fitting at my sister Hazel's place, we went to J. Cuppacakes’ branch in SM Jazz Mall in Bel-Air, Makati  to check their cakes. The couple are eyeing J. Cuppacakes’ signature nude cake as their wedding cake, which they saw on their Facebook page.

It is my first time to check out SM Jazz Mall even though we’ve already passed by this place several times. Nothing much to see here except for the new restaurants that line the ground floor of the mall. Imagine any SM Hypermart but with upscale establishments, that’s what to expect at SM Jazz Mall. Although I’m intrigued and would like to try some of the restaurants and cafes that I’ve seen there.

The moment I saw J. Cuppacakes, I immediately fell in love with it. Just the façade of the establishment would lure you to check what’s inside.

Upon entering the place it was so obvious that we will have a complete shabby-chic overload experience! The dominance of white with  and touches of vintage, dainty and floral decors are such a treat to the eyes.  It is one of the restaurants I’ve visited that stirred up excitement in my heart because of its interiors and details. You might not know it but I am a great fan of anything shabby-chic or vintage.

I super adore the chandeliers that are hanging on the ceiling and the chic staircase that leads to the mezzanine of J. Cuppacakes cupcakery.

These porcelain jars and crochet doilies reminds me of my childhood because my grandmother used to have plenty of these.

When I was little, I love browsing through my grandmother’s Town & Country magazines. I would see there country homes in the US with pretty, vintage, and quaint interior designs; then I would daydream that someday I would have a home like those. J. CuppacakesSM Jazz Mall branch made me nostalgic, bringing back those days when I would lie flat on my tummy on the floor flipping through Country Homes and Interiors, Better Homes and Gardens and Town Country magazines…. *sigh*….  I again told myself that I would design our future house with that theme in mind.

This photo makes me feel that we’re shooting for a cover of some lifestyle or home magazine. I was wearing one of the dresses from my Jollychic.com haul and it kinda gives me an impression that I belong to this place hehe…

After inquiring about J. Cuppacakes’ custom made cakes for Myk and Jai’s wedding, we were not able to resist the urge to try some of their products. The cupcakes and pastries on the display counter all looks good & yummy and may have had some hypnotizing powers that enticed us to have desserts even if we’re still full from the lunch we had just a few hours ago.

We wanted to try the Strawberry Pavlova but suddenly changed his mind because he said he’s still full from all that he ate for lunch and I agree, he did eat abundantly earlier that day.

We just ordered 3 items, the Classic Red Velvet cupcake, Lemon Bar and Cheesecake cupcake. All four of us loved everything!  Jai was not able to contain herself and blurted out “Oh my God ang sarap nung cupcake nila!”  (Oh my God, their cupcake is so good!). For someone who loves to bake, I must say Jai’s standards for cakes, cupcakes and pastries would be a bar higher than the three of us, so I believe her when she said that it is good. The Red Velvet cupcakes are moist which I have the same opinion about most of the ones we’ve tried. The Lemon Bar is also good, but I’m not fond of pastries that tastes sour (well except for Real Coffee’s kalamansi muffin in Boracay).

J. Cuppacakes also offers food items for snacks, breakfast, lunch and dinner;  like pancakes, waffles, sandwiches, pastas, Chinese noodles and  meat dishes. But we didn’t get to try them, well, maybe next time.

The place looks small on the outside but the space was maximized because they have a mezzanine that serves as the second floor of the cupcakery. Thus J. Cuppacakes also offers services for functions, parties and other events that requires food or baked goods catering.

J. Cuppacakes also accepts custom-made cakes, cupcakes, cupcake towers and dessert bars. They also offer decorating workshops, baking and cooking lessons and in-house products. I was able to get a flier and a calling card of the cupcakery, which I will share with everyone at the end of this blog post, just in case you want to inquire also of their baked goods and other services.

I enjoyed our short stay and snacks at J. Cuppacakes, I plan to go back one of these days so I can try the other cupcakes and the strawberry. I am looking forward to that!
