Met Ball 2015 Hangover

The Met Gala has been over for almost a week but the internet hasn't stop talking about it. In my Facebook there has been no moment that stories about the occasion don't pop up every time I scroll over my news feed. Of course most are about the celebrities who took the limelight and media attention because of what they were wearing. And then there's this list for the best dressed and not-so-best dressed during the fund raiser.

Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna became talk of the town because of their outfits. The first three because they wore dresses that are barely there and the latter because of her extravagant and large outfit. I like unique pieces, but I think simplicity will always surpass extreme extravagance. With that being said, the four women I mentioned earlier didn't really take my heart with their outfits. I like those who wore dresses and outfits that doesn't need to show off a lot of skin to make them look stunning on the red carpet.

My best dressed would be the following ladies because of the elegance and simplicity they have showed during the Met Ball and how they have interpreted this year's theme: China: Through the Looking Glass

If I were to dress any of these celebrities in a ball gown I would probably take in consideration the culture and arts of China. What comes to my mind when I think of China are the following colors: red, white, blue and ivory. Red is probably the color most associated with China because it is the color of the country's flag and it reminds  us of the dragon, a symbol revered in that country. The last three colors remind me of the porcelain dinnerware and vases popular in that part of the world known as China wares. I would most likely base my styling on these. And of course let us not forget brocades and Chinese calligraphy to also inspire us.

These following ball gowns would be my top picks for the celebrities who attended the Met Gala, for whom I would give each dress that I still have to figure.

I know that our society nowadays always go for the if-you-have-it-flaunt-it mantra, but at the end of the day looking simple, classic and timeless still wins the hearts of many. What are your thoughts about the recent fashion showcase at the Met Ball? Share them!
