The Timeless Essence of Black

Black according to Wikipedia.com is the color of coal, ebony, and of outer space. It is the darkest color, the result of the absence of or complete absorption of light and the opposite of white. Black was one of the first colors used by artists in neolithic cave paintings. In the 14th century, it began to be worn by royalty, the clergy, judges and government officials in much of Europe. It became the color worn by English romantic poets, businessmen and statesmen in the 19th century, and a high fashion color in the 20th century.

It may be the color of mourning or sadness but the fashion world always associate Black with something that is classic, timeless and elegant. No fashion mogul did not ever use black as one of their colors for their collections.

The color black looks good in any skin tone and the most figure enhancing of all colors. No women has ever gone wrong in choosing to wear something black. The popularity of the little black dress over the years is an attestation of that. A woman should at least own a piece of black dress in her closet as a rule of thumb. I for myself have a lot of clothing items and accessories in that color.

Special events like formal ones usually call for women to wear something elegant. Say for example an annual school gathering like a Homecoming Ball, female students are required to wear homecoming dresses that would fit the year's theme.Homecoming is the tradition of welcoming back alumni of a school. It is a tradition in many universities, colleges and high schools especially in the United States.

By the way, Homecoming should not be confused with prom, as they occur at different times of the year. Homecoming usually occurs in the fall, and prom usually occurs in the spring. And for sure you are already looking forward to the Homecoming dance which is the culminating event of the week (for high schools). Since it can be formal or informal event  the Homecoming dance attire is more semi-formal than prom. Women may wear knee length dresses or long dresses depending on what outfit ideas they have in mind. But it’s almost end of Summer  in the Northern hemisphere, and Fall or Autumn comes next so I know some of you are already preparing for your Homecoming 2014 events.

When you dob't know what to wear you can always go back to the basics and wear Black Homecoming Dresses. And I bet it will not fail you. Just be sure to choose the best accessories to go with it. You will say to yourself  black really is a timeless color and that it will never go out of style.
