Mom & Tina's Bakery Cafe

I’m a sucker for restaurants with good ambiance because for me it really adds a lot to the dining experience plus if one is very much active in Instagram, an instagram-worthy food place is a plus! But a restaurant should not just put too much effort only on their place per se, their food must be equally worth-raving about too. I’ve had my fair share of hits and miss with restos with good ambiance ≊ great food.

Mom & Tina's Bakery Cafe is one of those restaurants that for the longest time I’ve been very curious to try. Their Makati and Pasig branch are the two that I am familiar with. The smaller Makati branch is just a few blocks away from where I work and a couple of officemates and friends have already tried it and gave positive reviews.

While the 2-storey and very inviting Pasig branch is along C5 and across the Tiendesitas property. I’ve been passing through the Pasig branch for like ten thousand times or more already since it opened but still haven’t got the chance to visit. But a few weeks ago, I was finally able to taste what they have to offer and dropped by at their Makati branch for lunch with a few of my colleagues at work.

Mom & Tina's Bakery Cafe started off as a mother and daughter cooking and baking past-time and later on became a full-pledge bakery/café/restaurant due to popular demand. They serve  their family recipes which are homey comfort foods that will remind you of your own mom, grandma or aunt’s good-old-fashioned dishes. The menu is very extensive and ranges from Filipino, Spanish, Asian and Western. Many entries are very familiar so you won’t get overwhelmed.

Their Makati branch is quite small compared to the other branches. I don’t see any parking space available as well except for the street parking. The interior decoration provided a laid back homey atmosphere with lots of decors that you would see in an American country home. But this branch looks kinda outdated compared to the Pasig branch.

I haven’t been inside the Pasig branch but even from the outside tit looks more inviting than their Makati branch. Not all tables look comfortable though because some have stools instead on plushed couches. We sat by the table beside the glass wall and our seats were comfy and plushed ottomans.

Here are what we ordered:

Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto: Sun-dried tomatoes with grated
Parmesan over their freshly-made pasta

Baked Chicken Macaroni: Tasty chicken, tomato and a cheesy
cream sauce with macaroni noodles

Chicken Relleno: An old family recipe - baked stuffed chicken slices with tasty sauce.
Served with coleslaw with Java Rice

  Bacon and Cheese empanada

Mini American Apple Pie

I like the Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto mainly because the pasta is hand-made. The Baked Chicken Macaroni was supposedly for kid’s but the serving can feed a average appetite adult and will leave him content, I really like this one no wonder it’s a Mom and Tina’s best seller.
When it comes to the Chicken Relleno, I must be honest that I wasn’t really happy with it, there wasn’t anything extraordinary about it. I hate to be rude, but I’ve tasted better chicken relleno elsewhere. But that little disappointment was compensated with the Mini American Apple Pie. I love Mom & Tina’s mini apple pie especially the flaky crust. It had just enough cinnamon on it too, not too sweet and just right. That shouldn’t surprise me at all since their desserts are which they are famous for.
