Vikings Luxury Buffet Restaurant - SM Marikina

I love food and it's the only thing that I don't have any restrictions about. If you're not fond of food, you're missing so much in your life. That is most likely why I don't turn down any food event invitation or a lunch/dinner out. I also love buffets!
It's nice that there are many options now for buffet eating and the amount and variety of food being served is ever growing as well. One of the places I really like to go visit for binge eating is Vikings. I've visited their SM Megamall, SM Jazz and the upscale version Niu

I recently visited Viking SM Marikina with my sisters to use the GC I won from one online contest. As usual, the decors and atmosphere is superb. I actually can compare the interiors of this branch to Niu because of how elegant and spacious it is. What I also like about this place is that it's not so crowded and that the lines aren't long. The staff are also very accommodating and friendly. What I noticed though, is the lighting is quite dim compared to their branches in Megamall, Jazz and Niu. But because one side of the branch is window glass from floor to ceiling, it gives off that nice ambiance of coziness especially during the dinner buffet when the sun is about to set in the west.

As for the food, it's just like all other Vikings branch, serving Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, European and American dishes. There are new items that I got to try also in this branch that I wasn't able to try in other branches. I don't know if they are new additions or they weren't just served in other branches.

Of course, my first stop would always be the Japanese section. I filled my first plate with tuna and salmon sashimi. I pass from the sushis when I was there. because of the rice since I don't want to get full that early on with the dinner. I also picked up a few pieces of ebi tempura and Japanese tofu. I didn't like the breading that they used for the ebi tempura since I'm used to the ones with those flaky and crunchier tempura coating.

My second stop was the Chinese station and immediately looked for century eggs, dumplings and hakao. I filled my plate half of century egg and half for hakao. I missed eating century egg, the last time I was in Binondo and was craving for it, unfortunately it wasn't available. So I really took this opportunity to eat as much century egg that I can.

I actually visited the appetizers section a little bit later in the dinner, I mostly put a bunch of different cheeses and a slice of the caviar cake in my plate. I love the caviar cake and wished there was more caviar put into it like 1/4 inch thick; but knowing how expensive caviar is, I am contented with what I got.

Another reason why I go to Vikings is the Roast section. I love lamb and ate about 2 plate-full of medium rare leg lamb slices! I didn't bother with all the other roasted items except for the lamb.

As for the drinks, the staples of Viking were there, especially my favorite Cucumber Aqua Fresca. There's also oolong tea and milk tea with pearls which didn't escape from my attention and gulped a couple of glasses of those.

And lastly, the desserts station. I was already full to the brim, but I will never miss the desserts for anything in this world! Although, I just grab a few from the shelf, only those that I miss eating: creme brulee, frozen yoghurt, avocado ice cream and that sugar free cheesecake. I found their gingerbread houses on display so cute, btw. Unfortunately as I've said, they are only for display. There were of course Filipino desserts like bibingka, puto bumbong (rice cakes) and halo-halo. As always, sweets gave me extra comfort.

What I noticed most of this Vikings branch is how enthusiastic their staff was. In Vikings, a group of staff who sings goes around the place and sing or serenade birthday celebrants. This is my first encounter that the singers give their 100% and they were singing and dancing too. They were pretty much very entertaining. You can check out the video below.
