Summer Dressing with Fashionmia

I love summer and it's my favorite season of the year. But this year's summer heat reaching up to 40-50 degrees Celsius is sending me off to bat shit crazy land. IT.IS.THAT.DAMN.HOT.AND.HUMID. I don't want to complain, if only I am at the beach. Yet I go to work doing graveyard shifts in my semi-business casual wardrobe 5 times a week.

I try to stay cool as possible (both for the body and the head) by wearing knee-length dresses or my forever go-to chiffon tops. I also try to wear light-colored, loose and lightweight clothes. Although there is no certainty that wearing light-colored apparel can regulate body temperature during the hot season and when sun exposure is at its highest. But it definitely pleasing to look at and somehow cool down one's senses.

Naimas - Taste of Northern Filipino Home Cuisine

Naimas is an Ilocano word (a Filipino dialect) which means good-tasting or savory or delicious. My heritage is Ilocano and Ilonggo but is highly-influenced by Ilocano through my father's mother side of the family. I grew up with my grandmother's and aunts' Ilocano-influenced cooking. Fact is that northern Filipinos are known to be great cooks and a lot of well-loved and home-cooked Filipino dishes are from the North.

Talk about excitement when I was invited to a food blogger event at Naimas and found out that they're serving dishes that are famous from Northern Luzon. I am familiar with most of them but I know I haven't tried the hardcore Northern dishes just yet. We will get to that later...

Strut Into Summer

The Philippines have experienced the strongest summer heat these past few weeks and it even registered to a 51 degrees Celsius a couple of days ago. We are so much into the heart of summer if I can say so myself.  Whenever I leave the the bathroom after a shower, the heat makes me sweat tons that I want to go back inside and do another shower again. It is that hot and humid! I also go to work in my semi-business outfits and man, I tell you, I hate it. If only I can go to work wearing shorts, sandos/tank tops or in rompers, I would freaking do it every damn day.

Though I vouched to do just that on weekends when I don't need to be in something so restraining and uncomfy. Too bad I don't have that many shorts, jumpsuits and tank tops. Which gives me the right to shop for summer clothes! Yeah?! Thank goodness, my favorite online clothing store always got some promotion for me to save up on my uncontrollable disease called shopping.

Looking from above it seems like the tropical land of Costa Rica serves as a connecting ground between Northern and Southern America. Bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Caribbean Sea to the east, this destination represents a true paradise for all of those who wish to experience its exotic allure.

Buffy's Milk Tagaytay: Buffalo Milk Ice Cream and Yogurt

I wasn’t big on drinking milk when I was younger, but I do love ice cream big time! And I have recently (well around 2-3 years now) took a liking eating or drinking yogurt. Most of the time I consume commercially produced milk, ice cream and yogurt. So when my fellow Zomato foodies, after a foodie meet-up in Tagaytay, suggested that we pass by this place that offers products made form carabao/water buffalo milk, I got pretty much excited about it.

The place is called Buffy’s and it offers a wide array of dairy products that includes milk, yogurt, ice cream, cheese and other pasalubongs. What’s unique about Buffy’s is that they use carabao/water buffalo milk, which is known to be creamier and healthier compared to what we’re used to with cow’s milk.

Choi Garden at Mega Atrium

I have always loved Chinese food and I don’t consider it really as an international cuisine at all. Well, if you’re not from Asia, you might not know this, but China even before the Philippines was colonized by Western countries, already had a great influence to my country. From culture, to race/ancestry, to tradition and of course, to food. So never be surprised if we have Filipino dishes that are almost similar or contain a greatly-influenced Chinese taste.

Although we have a lot of Filipinized Chinese dishes, sometimes I still crave for the authentic ones. But it’s not every day that I can go to Chinatown and enjoy eating close-to-authentic Chinese food. So where can I get a quick fix? At the mall of course! It may be a bit pricier from the ones back at Chinatown restos but it’s a faster answer to any cravings I’m having at the moment.
