Borough, The Podium x Team Aldous Bloggers Quiz Night!

Last weekend I attended Team Aldous' second Quiz Night event at Borough Bar located at Podium Mall, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. This is my second time to attend a quiz night and after being a part of the  winning team during my first quiz night, you bet that my competitive spirit was present. Of course I wanted to win it with my team so it was game face on!

All those who joined the quiz night were fellow bloggers, some I get to meet for the first time, some I only see online, and some I already know quite well. I was assigned by quiz master and Team Leader of #TeamAldous: Aldous Calubad of www.aldousatetheworld.com to team Titas of Manila with 3 other bloggers I've knownnfor quite some time now because we've already  attended a handful of events together.

My team is composed of Bettina (www.bettinabacani.com), Cohen (heycookielopez.wordpress.com) and Jel (www.jelatinedaily.com) [Please do check out the blogs of these lovely ladies!]. Unfortunately Cohen was not able to make it and we lost too. But I am pretty sure we exerted all the effort that we can to win. It's just that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. No hard feelings.

Borough's interiors is a mixed of vintage, quirky, country and hipster feels. The highlight of the place would probably be the reclaimed wood wall with a faux deer head hanging on it plus the string of bulbs that hang on the ceiling. It's my first time to visit it and was surprised that it has a handful of clienteles even as early as 6pm.

While quizzing the night away, we were also munching on this bar foods from Borough:

Buffalo Chicken Wings - classic hot and spicy wings originally from Buffalo New York served with real blue cheese dip. I love chicken wings and what I love more about these chicken wings from Borough ois the blue cheese. Not all people love blue cheese because of its strong smell and after-taste but since I love cheese this garnered approval from me.

Chocolate Chicken Wings - for the adventurous baked wings coated with cocoa and cinnamon served with cilantro sour cream. I like that the flavor of chocolate and cinnamon isn't over powering. I am really not into chocolate infused with dishes because for me chocolate is meant for desserts, but this is good for me.

Popcorn Calamari - popcorn crusted fried squid tossed with extra popcorn for good measure served with clarified chili butter. Using popcorn to coat the squid definitely added a lot texture to the calamari. Pairing it with the melted butter and chili was good, because I usually make I dip like this when I have the chance to cook or pan grill fish.

Hummus - blended chickpeas mixed with extra virgin olive oil and garnished with paprika served with veggie sticks and homemade pita bread. Since I love Mediterranean food, the hummus is one that I ate more than all the dishes that were served to us.

Haystack Onion Rings - piled high served with BBQ sauce and sour cream onion dip. This is a lot of home made onion rings and really resembled a haystack. I like that it was served with sour cream onion dip rather than the usual mayonnaise making the plain onion ring up its game a bit.

Fries in  Basket - a whole basket of fries served with Borough's Odessa sauce. To be honest I am not really into fries so this is the least that I munched on during the quiz night so I cant really give that much verdict. I missed on the Odessa sauce as well.

Since Borough is inside a mall and a resto-bar, it's typically open until the wee hours of the morning, but fret not because it has its own  back door access to the parking lot beside the mall. So if you want to have some chill night out with friends until the sun goes up you can do so.

  1. Think about looking out in the skyline, and developing a new and better upcoming than we experience we have nowadays. Aldous Huxley saw a very different fearless marketplace on this skyline, and had written a traditional anyone slightly enthusiastic about the upcoming should study. http://www.crosswordpuzzlehelps.com/
