Staycation: Azumi Boutique Hotel - Alabang

In the hustle and bustle of the city life and the stress of work and daily, it is not surprising that a lot of us get burned out. That is why sometimes the most productive thing that we can do is to relax, revive and renew. And one weekend after months of subjecting my mind, body and emotions to stressors, I and a two friends decided to change our usual weekend routine by having a staycation.

We booked ourselves an overnight stay at Azumi Boutique Hotel down south of the metro. The hotel is located in Alabang, the city which is at the border of Metro Manila and the province of Laguna. I know we are still in the city but we're at the outskirts already and is way less busy. Plus we also get to drive South Super Highway making us feel we're on a road trip, well, somehow...

Stylish and environmentally friendly, Azumi Boutique Hotel in Alabang provides the modern traveler a quality hotel at an outstanding value. An array of books, photos, cozy furnishings and other travel mementos make for a picturesque welcome for the guests at the lobby. Azumi’s 186 rooms are characterized by use of earth tones with a distinct pop of orange, wood laminate floors and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors create a feeling of open space and also allow one to appreciate the cityscape.

We booked a queen size room via agoda.com and paid using a credit card. On a rainy Saturday noon we traveled south using Waze to get to the hotel since no one knows where it was exactly located. We only experienced some traffic jam at Alabang Zapote Road. It was easy to find the hotel since it is located inside Madrigal Business Park which is just in front of Molito Alabang.

Check in was fast and efficient; took us less than 10 minutes which was very good. A PHP 1000 deposit was asked from us just in case we incur any additional charges which was returned in full when we checked out. Though I must say that going up and down the hotel using the elevators can be a bit tedious. They only have 2 small elevators and we had to wait a couple minutes and about 2 trips before we can ride it. The hotel was packed on weekend; maybe that's why.

The hotel building is very modern with its black and orange color. The porch have a lot of seating areas for when guests wants to just chill or relax al fresco. The hotel lobby is very well designed with a mix of quirky and vintage decors. From the lobby, the hotel is already very inviting. 3 levels of parking areas are available for guests with automobiles. After check in we went back to my friend's car to get our things and went straight to our room that can be accessed by an RFID card. Oh btw you need the card too to access hotel floors.

The queen room is a square unit with one queen bed and a day bed. The mattress and linens were fresh and comfy. There's a flat screen television on the long study table and huge closets where you can find a safety deposit box inside. PAB-X phone is available too but if you're using it for local calls there's a PHP 12 per minute charge.

The room is also equipped with a split type air-condition, a full-sized refrigerator, a coffee making facility, microwave oven and there's a kitchen too. There's complimentary 2 coffee and two bottled water. Snacks are available too and the prices are reasonable. We did not consumed any of them because we brought are own snacks hehe...

For the toilet and bath we were surprised that the walls of it are clear glass! There's a blind though but we have to call maintenance first so we can put it down so that there's no live show when someone is showering LMAO!!!

Azumi Boutique Hotel is also known for their rooftop infinity pool that overlooks the Alabang skyline and Laguna de Bay. It was a bit raining that weekend so we didn’t get the chance to swim at night only the next morning that we were able to do that when Mr. Sun decided to show up a bit. The pool is very nice and the view is lovely especially at night. It is open from 6am to 2am and there's bar and lounge by the pool which is an extension of Romulo Cafe (which is located at the ground floor).

The service was ok and the hotel even allows guests to order food from outside. We got hungry at around 3am and decided to call Jollibee and order some food. When the delivery guy arrived the front desk gave us a ring and then he was escorted by the guard to our room. Our accommodation came with 2 buffet breakfast at Romulo Cafe, which I will share in another blog post.

All in all it was a wonderful stay at Azumi, I just wish we could have stayed longer and that it was not raining. Also, if it was not raining we could have checked the restos and food stalls at Molito Alabang (it was just across the street) which I've been meaning to visit. But I am not sad at all, because there's always a next time right?
