Summer Vacation Workout Tips

Are you addicted to fitness and simply cannot wait to get home from a vacation to hit the gym again? Even though it might be quite hard to keep up with such a lifestyle, nothing is impossible, as there are plenty of ways to exercise while on the road. If you’re one of those people, and have a booked vacation in the near future and don’t know how to stay in shape while there, take a look at these simple tips for the vacation summer tips:

Sightsee on foot
If you’re visiting a place you haven’t been in yet, it’s completely normal to go sightseeing. Visiting all those museums and monuments, is, after all, one of the musts of any vacation. However, make sure to use your feet for this endeavour. Forget about taxis and metros, rather walk it out as it will be beneficial for your mood, body and mind. If something that you want to check out is quite far, use the metro but get out two stations away from your destination point and walk there. On the plus side, you’ll get to see the place in its true form and experience life there. Moreover, you can always ask a tour guide if there is a walking tour of the city.

Rent a bike
What is more beautiful than riding a bicycle in an unknown city, looking at the buildings and people with breeze in your hair? Add the fact that you’ll be staying active, and there you go. Each city has plenty of rent-a-bike points, so make sure to choose one while there. If the weather is good enough, even better – you’ll get your face tanned, work your muscles, and sightsee. Consider this as a cardio exercise that you would also have at home.

Use the hotel perks
If you’re staying in a hotel, this project will be even easier. Nowadays, all hotels have special facilities such as pools, saunas and some even gyms. First of all, make sure to have the appropriate gym wear for such activities. After all, if you’re a fitness junkie, good gym wear is something that you should always have by your side as you never know when the opportunity to work out will come. Wake up one or one and a half hour earlier, and hit the hotel gym before starting off with your day. The second option is to use the pool and the sauna each night before going to bed; why not indulge yourself in this? Swim out all the hard walking you did that day, or simply steam till it’s time for you to go to bed. That way, you’ll hit two birds with one stone – you’ll use everything the hotel has to offer, and stay in shape.
Drink a lot of water
Since there might be a possibility that you’ll be somewhat less active on your summer vacation (if we don’t count swimming), it’s very important that you cut down on everything that’s not that healthy for your body. That being said, it’s of crucial importance to drink as much water as you can (at least 2 litres) and stay hydrated. That way, the process of accumulating toxins and fat will be slower, and it won’t be noticeable until you go back home and start exercising again.
Eat healthily
Yes, it’s very difficult to visit a certain place and don’t eat their traditional, unhealthy food. However, if you’re into fitness and if that’s very important to you, this will be slightly easier. Make sure to eat healthy on your trip – eat a lot of greens, and eat at a fixed schedule. You can, of course, have a cheat day during which you’ll try out everything that destination has to offer, but make healthy diet your priority.
After all, 7-10 days away will not make you out of shape, but if you definitely don’t want to waste not even one day, use one of the tips above and you’ll feel better and satisfied. Just know that a vacation is all about relaxing, so if the lack of physical activity is making you nervous, just forget about it and enjoy. You’ll have plenty of time to be nervous when you get home. Bon voyage and good workout!
