Choose Sarap Everyday with Chewsarap’s Hearty Asian Dishes

Like my feet, my palate always wanders, wanting to try something new, something different. Sometimes it ventures out to the unfamiliar, the complete opposite of the flavors that I have gotten used to. But at the end of the day my sense of taste will always search for Asian cuisine because it feels and tastes like home, like a comforting warm embrace.

Whether you’re eating just by yourself, with your special someone or with family and/or friends, you can find your favorite Asian comfort food from Chewsarap! This homegrown food business offers well-known dishes from different regions of Asia, some western dishes too, but the bulk of their menu is trendy and staple Asian.

Prior to the pandemic, Chewsarapfinds its roots from handling cafeterias of some schools and also ventured out in putting up a physical restaurant. For the owners, it was unchartered territory for them, but they still pursued. Unfortunately, things weren’t a walk in the park and then the pandemic happened. Times were tough, but they didn’t want to let go of their staff thus they turned to selling their best-selling dishes online via Facebook and Instagram.

Through recommendations by family and friends, they started marketing and selling what they have to offer through social media. It took months and a lot of hardship and feeling like letting down their staff because there were days when no order come through the door before the Chewsarap finally took off. And this was because of the power of social media.

A well-known social media/food influencer was able to try their dishes and gave them an exceptionally helpful review. Although taste is subjective, a lot of people consider this food influencer’s opinion when it comes to food, if it’s delicious or not. So, when the food influencer posted about them and gave them a favorable review, things started to pick up and then it went crazy. Orders started to pile up both from people they know and from those who just heard about Chewsarap or saw the food influencer’s post.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the power of social media. But I think it’s really because Chewsarap dishes do taste good. This is one of those that you can exclaim, “legit” and not just because it trended or went viral. I just tried three dishes from Chewsarap: Hainan Chicken with Curry Rice, Japchae Noodles and Honey Lime Chicken, and I’m convinced just like those who had discovered them.

Their Hainan Chicken with Curry Rice is a must-order! I cannot even remember the last time I ate Hainan Chicken. This chicken cooked sous-vide is a famous Singaporean dish served in Singapore’s hawker centers. It’s cooked with ginger and other herbs and the broth is used to cook the rice it’ll go with. But for a twist, Chewsarap paired it with aromatic and flavorful curry rice and served with ginger and soy dipping sauce. Curry is also a staple food flavoring in the Southeast of Asia, but this is the first time I’ve tried Hainan Chicken with Curry rice and it did not disappoint. The flavors went well together. Mixed the two dipping sauces together for an explosion of flavors in your mouth.

One of my fave Korean dishes, the Japchae Noodles is also offered by Chewsarap. Japchae, if you are not familiar, is a stir-fried Korean glass noodles with veggies and beef. It’s more on the sweet-savory kind of noodle dish which I really fancy. Like all other Asian noodle dishes, this is meant for sharing. You can order Chewsarap’s Japchae in trays that are good for 2-3 persons, for 4-5 persons, for 8 persons and good for 15 persons.

If you are looking for something different, something tangy, then you should need to try their Honey Lime Chicken. These are chicken tenders in slathered Chewsarap’s special zesty honey lime sauce. It’s so flavorful that it’s perfect with steamy white rice!  And I’m quite sure you’ll go for a second serving of rice or maybe a third.

Chewsarap has other note-worthy dishes to try like their Korean Beef Stew, Hot Prawn Salad, and Korean Chicken. For full menu you can check out their website or check out MenuPH – where you can also find other restaurant menus.

Ordering from Chewsarap, it is better to do an advance order since some items may not be available asap and must be on a pre-order basis only. They cater to Metro Manila and neighboring Rizal areas. They deliver and also offer curbside pickup. Payments are preferably via online. I’ve listed down below their contact details and social media, go check them out!
