#ColorTheNorth with Kitchenails Trinoma

DIY is my kind of thing, and that includes doing my nails; but sometimes I let the pros do what they do best and get a mani-pedi at a nail salon instead. I have noticed that there's quite a difference between the output when I do it myself from the one done by a nail care professional. It's way way better, finer and cleaner.

I visited Kitchenails a few days ago with my sister and just like me, she immediately find the concept of the nail salon pretty fun and unique. I was ecstatic to see that they already have this fridge turned into a storage for the nail polishes. This is where they now place the polishes for you to choose from.

My Newchic.com Summer Wishlist

Yes! Only one week from now and it's already the summer season in this part of the world! Woot! Summer is my favorite season of the year. Though it can get super hot and humid especially that I live in a tropical country I still love this season no matter what. Sunshine makes me happy and smile unlike gloomy rainy and cold weather that brings a certain kind of sadness even if you’re not going through a tough time in life. I think I was born and planned to live and fit for summer season so no question about that.

I also love summer fashion because of the beautiful colors that it brings about. For summer 2016 most major designers followed the color trend as predicted by the fashion world.  Some are not that surprising to see but some are, like red and grey for summer is kinda not so ordinary, really. But fashion brand giants are rebellious enough to include them in their collections. I say it’s pretty much interesting to see those shades but I know many will be up for it; besides fashion has no rules anymore. But as for me, I want to stick with the basic colors like white, blue and sea colors.

Sarsa Kitchen and Bar BGC

I've been meaning to try Sarsa Kitchen and Bar for sometime now and I'm still baffled as to why it took me a while to be able to check it out once and for all.  There was too much hype about it during its early months of operation and the long queues or waiting time might have put me off a bit. But when I was thinking of where to take a friend of my sister and I from the US (who's visiting the Philippines for the first time) for dinner, I don't know why, but for some reason I immediately thought of Sarsa.

I guess probably because Sarsa doesn't only represent a regional Filipino type of cuisine (which is Negrense) but also dishes that are all-time Filipino favorites which includes offerings of a variety of famous Filipino street foods and other pica-pica. Sarsa  also serves Filipino dishes with contemporary touches which I thought wouldn't shock the taste buds of our friend who also happens to be an All-American chef.

Are You Ready For Some Heritage Core?

The fast changing fashion trends have yet again managed to overwhelm us with various extremes. The recent answer to similar situation was norm core (normal + hardcore). Today, the attitude of finding your liberty in wearing “nothing special” has been pushed aside by a rising star of fashion fads – “heritage core”.

In a world where “normcore” represents minimalism, heritage core is a true reflection of aristocracy and power. So, step aside baseball hats, mom jeans and white kicks – a new trend is conquering the world, and it means business. Let us see why heritage core gets to sit on the fashionista’s throne.

SammyDress Haul 1 + Review

"A girl can never have too many clothes or shoes or accessories..." -- my go to quote whenever I have to reason out to justify my somewhat uncontrollable urge to buy clothes and stuff. And I'm pretty sure a lot of women can relate with me about this. Even if our closets are already exploding with too much apparel, shoes and accessories; we always feel like we have been shopping our whole lives and we still have nothing to wear. LOL!

Anyway, last December, with the help of  Sammydress.com I kinda went on a mini shopping spree to somehow reward myself for the year that was. I've been a regular visitor of this site for sometime now, but it's only my first time to purchase anything from them.

Fun Things to Do on a Rainy Day

When rain comes, everybody gets disappointed, as it ruins any chance of having fun outside. Moreover, the mood will be mostly depressive and good for nothing but sleeping. However, if you have a family willing to have some fun, then you can make even rainy days into something beautiful. Be sure to create a list of fun activities which you can easily do when it is gloomy and rainy.

Agape Pastries and Tartines

Love is the best feeling in the world, and you don't get to experience that a lot everyday in this  me-myself-and-I world we're living in. You sometimes think you already have it, but not really; then there are some who continually chase love throughout their whole lifetimes. But, I am thankful that I have what is called Agape. In ancient Greek, Agape means love and is the highest form of love. It embodies the ideas of brotherly love and charity. I draw mine from my family and my true friends. And we probably all know by now, that love in itself is a journey. A journey between two individuals, a journey towards self-love or self-knowledge and perhaps a journey to go after your life's dreams.

I love it when a business has a story behind it; and not just because somebody wants to create something just for the sake of earning (though I know that's the main goal). But having a history behind any business makes it more alluring to clienteles, well, for me at least. Agape Pastries and Tartines is exactly that.

Valentine’s Day is almost here, and if you are still not sure what kind of present is perfect for your beloved one, you are at the right place. Just don’t panic because everything will be just fine! Romantic Getaway
When it comes to perfect Valentine’s Day, many couples think of a romantic getaway where they will be able to relax and spend some quality time together. This is indeed a great choice – one of the best actually – especially if you can choose an exotic destination such as Hawaii or the Bahamas. If not – even a weekend at the countryside will be just fine. Such a gift definitely says that you actually want some time just for you two on this special day. Everything will be perfect as long as you are together.

Feed Your Senses at Kitchenails Trinoma

Because I love to DIY almost everything, I rarely go to the salon or nail parlor to get my nails done, I actually do them myself. But when somebody's going to treat me for a mani-pedi (which my mama and sister usually do) I typically don't refuse the offer. So when I was invited to try this newly opened nail salon in Trinoma, I didn't think twice to say yes. It's good for a girl to get pampered and relax once in a while.

It was the store opening of Kitchenails in Trinoma Mall. Kitchenails was named as such because the concept of the nail spa is culinary. This came to be, because the owner, besides other beauty salons (nail spas and waxing salons), also owns restaurants and she wanted to create a business that puts her love for beauty and food together, hence Kitchenails was born.

What Your Looks Reveal About Your Health

We often associate changes on our body with aging. Most often, it is the main cause. But sometimes, our body is tipping us off about underlying health issue. Here are some of the signals your nails, hair, eyes, and skin, might be giving you that you should definitely stop ignoring.

Brittle nails
Very pale nails can be a sign of anaemia, liver disease, or malnutrition. If the nails are white with darker rims, this can indicate hepatitis. Fungal infection is one of the most common causes of yellow nails. Very rarely, yellow nails can be a sign of a more serious condition (severe thyroid disease or lung disease). If your body is not getting enough oxygen, your nails might be bluish. This again could be an indication of a lung problem, such as emphysema, or some heart problems.

Gourmet Bar and Pool Lounge at Novotel Hotel Manila

Whenever I hear or pass-by Cubao, a mix of memories and emotions come over me. One of the good memories was that when I was little, my family and I used to go there to watch the annual Christmas On Display show. Also, fond memories of concerts and shows at the Araneta Coliseum were etched in my mind. Then when I grew older, Cubao slowly lost its charm because it became outdated and other shopping destinations have emerged. It has also been a notorious place for pick-pockets and other unwanted activities.

Not until recently that Cubao was slowly revived to its former glory. A new mall was constructed, the Araneta Coliseum was renovated and there was Cubao Expo, which became a destination for artists, musicians and foodies.  Now, you will not recognize it as the Cubao it once was. New buildings have been risen and establishments have been constructed in the area.
