Revisiting Old Manila and Ilustrado Restaurant

Being someone who’s a self-proclaimed old-world romanticist, I just love places that transports me back to olden times when and where life was simpler and places that stirs up my imagination because of the opulent history behind it. One of the places in the Philippines where I can get that fix is Intramuros. I’ve been here a couple of times and it always makes me feel nostalgic and proud of my heritage as a Filipino with a rich antiquity and background.

Last weekend, me and a couple of friends visited old Intramuros and some of the other museums nearby for the celebration of Museums and Galleries Month where the Intramuros Administration held an Open House where most of the museums are free. Yep no entrance fees!

Perfect Jewellery for Different Skin Tones and Face Shapes

Jewellery plays a big role when we are planning our outfits because it complements any look perfectly, and jade jewelry is perfect with lots of colors to choose from. This year, huge statement pieces are popular, items like long earrings or large chain necklaces. However, just because something is trendy, it doesn’t mean we can all pull it off. When it comes to jewellery, a lot depends on our skin tone and face shape, so not everyone should wear the same pieces because not all of us look equally good with them. To learn what jewellery is best for you, keep reading!

Choosing the right metals and gemstone colours
When we are determining our skin tone, it's best to look at the skin in natural light. First, find a spot where the veins are easily seen. Here’s a tip – wrists are usually a great choice! Those with blue or purple veins have a cool skin tone. If veins are rather greenish, this is a warm skin tone. However, if veins appear blue in some areas and green in others, we are talking about a neutral skin tone.

Paluto by All Day Supermarket

I’ve never been in a supermarket where grocery shopping is something so enjoyable until visiting All Day Supermarket. This establishment is from the same brand that gave us All Home and The Coffee Project (IMO, the prettiest coffee shop in MNL). In Libis Quezon City, the huge lot which Shopwise used to occupy, now stands All Day, All Home and Coffee Project a one stop for all things you need for your home, kitchen and your caffeine fix!

I found myself here one Saturday to meet up with my friends. I’ve been at Coffee Project several times and have window shopped inside All Home but this was the first time that I went on the second floor where you can find AllDay Supermarket.

A Whole New Lasagna Experience with Pizza Hut’s New Viva Lasagna Pizza!

I’m not so sure where we Filipinos got our influence when it comes to being fond of pasta and pizza. Though these are originally Italian or Mediterranean dishes, I’m guessing it’s likely the Americans who introduced them to us. There are a couple of pizza places in the Philippine market that are of American origin and one of them is Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut was founded in June 1958 by two Wichita State University students, brothers Dan and Frank Carney, as a single location in Wichita, Kansas. Six months later they opened a second outlet and within a year they had six Pizza Hut restaurants. The brothers began franchising in 1959.

How To Travel With A Baby

Traveling with a baby is indeed a much different experience than when there are only adults on board. However, although it is a bit challenging, a lot of parents would agree that it is much harder for them to travel without their baby than it is to get prepared and travel with their little one.  The truth is that there are many beautiful sides of having your baby by your side while you go visit your family or go on a vacation, together with the fact that your trip will in no case be boring. So, if you are planning to travel with your baby, and especially if this is going to be the first time that the little one is visiting a new destination, here are some useful tips to help you and your baby enjoy the trip.

Keep close to you a supply of wipes and diapers
It is quite understandable that you should bring a few spare diapers with you when traveling with a baby. The same applies to baby wipes, which can come in handy in multiple situations during your trip. However, the key is to keep these necessities close to you, so you can grab them at any time. The best is to keep them in a spacious tote bag or a large backpack that you can carry with you, no matter if you are traveling by car or a plane. This way, you can change the baby’s diaper in no time, as well as use the wipes to clean any spit-ups, sticky hands, or even to wipe any surfaces so that they are clean and safe for you and the baby to use.

The importance of generators in the households as well as industries have increased steadily over the past few years. Many leaders in manufacturing like Generac, Yamaha etc have described their sales to be increasing at a rapid pace, especially during periods where there is a warning of natural calamities.
Areas that have been affected by cyclones, bushfires, storms, etc. have faced severe complications in the absence of a reliable back up power supply. Hence people have become more cautious and avoid taking risks.

Artisan Ice Cream by Merry Moo

Don’t you find it puzzling that just when technology is advancing in such a fast pace, where in the world we live in we are always glued to our phones, where life gets chaotic, some just wants to take a step back and live in the past, the old school ways. But living less, simpler, how they did it in the old days, without all the hustle and bustle is more. Yes, it’s true that less is more, in that matter. But more of it, more of all the simpler ways incorporated into our lifestyle is better, and that’s a fact.

There are times that going old school can be bad and sometimes good. After all, we can’t have it both ways. But for this post let me talk about one of the good things of going back to simpler ways. Like when it comes to food, I don’t know if this is because the propagation of the hipster generation brought about by millennials, but somehow, most of us, if not all, went back to going vintage. There’s something about its simplicity and stylishness that we yearn. Nostalgia perhaps. With this, we saw the rise of everything artisan.

Dresslily.com Haul # 5 + Review

It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas! While I’m writing this haul review it’s officially 75 days before Christmas day and as early as now you can already feel that the holiday season is fast approaching. In our street, households are slowly being decorated with festive ornaments and lights. Just a few days ago, a giant Christmas tree was put up in my office building’s lobby, and you know what? That made me all giddy because this is one of my favorite seasons besides summer.

Another reason for my high spirits is that as early as now, I am receiving so many things in the mail lately and I feel like these are holiday gifts, though they are mostly promotional items. Almost every few days I get a notification from a delivery man or one of my family members that something has arrived for and that really puts me in a festive mood. I wish I take shoot and write a review of everything in time for the holidays or before this year ends. But let start with the recent haul that I did with Dresslily.

Help Your Children Learn Good Values

As parents, we are often faced with the question of when to start teaching our children about values that they should imbibe in their lives. What is the correct age to start? A child’s brain is like a sponge. It will absorb everything that it senses. Children in their formative years look to their parents, observe the behavior that parents exhibit and try to copy them.

By the age of 5 children start seeing their parents as role models and also start differentiating between good and bad; and wrong and right. The best way to teach your children values is to set examples for them to follow. You need to spend quality time with your children if you want them to learn from you. Given below is a list of 5 important values that every child should learn and make a part of their lives.

% Arabica Coffee: See The World Through Coffee

Are you someone who can’t start his/her day without having a fix of caffeine? Well, I am just like that. I can’t start my day without having a cup of coffee, or two. I mean, please don’t talk to me until I have engulfed reasonable amounts of caffeine because my brain won’t function until then. Coffee is the fuel of my soul, it’s what’s keep running all throughout the night (I work night shift). And don’t you just love that the first smell you inhale after getting out of bed is the aroma of coffee? Moreover, the bitterness or sweetness (depends on the type of coffee that you drink) gives you that sudden kick that will catapult you getting your body moving and going.

For when times that I don’t have time to enjoy a cup of joe before I leave home for work or I ran out of stash of coffee (which both rarely happens), the moment I step at work, after clocking in, I hurriedly get my fix. Sounds funny, but seriously, I crave for it, it seems like I’m having a withdrawal if I don’t drink it after an hour or so after I wake up. It’s really like a drug, it’s addictive but not bad for you. But yeah too much of it can cause you hyperacidity and what-nots, but not as bad as real drugs that can make you go crazy and kill you.

Asian Taste Seafood Restaurant at Seascape Village

Asia, being the largest and most populous continent, has many great cuisines. But how do you decide which Asian nation produces the best cuisine? But taste will always be subjective right? Someone may love Taiwan’s stinky tofu while I had a hard time appreciating it even if I am a tofu lover. Some people may also not appreciate seafood where it is abundant in Oriental and South East Asia. I may be allergic to seafood, but I love eating them, whenever I have the chance; yet I know a couple of people who doesn’t like them any bit, even fish they hate.

What I love about oriental and SE Asian food is that it highly resembles the Filipino cuisine and greatly appeals to the Filipino palate, well after all, even in ancient times, even before the colonization and industrial from the West ever happened, the Philippines is already trading with its neighboring countries and cultures and that heavily included food and spices. If you’re going to ask me, my top Asian cuisines would be Japanese, Chinese and Filipino (of course!).

Vitamins & Nutrients for Healthy and Beautiful Skin

Unavoidable factors like age, the environment, and stress can cause the skin to become thinner and hence prone to wrinkling, broken capillaries, and brown spots. In addition, there are plenty of other factors that can throw off the balance of minerals and vitamins in our bodies that are essential for our skin's health. Unlike the former group of factors, the latter is something that can be easily addressed – below we’ve listed some of the top vitamins and minerals you need for healthy and young-looking skin as well as ways to incorporate them into your daily diet!

1. Vitamin D
Vitamin D plays an important role in fighting infections, and as a result, a deficiency in this vitamin is closely linked to acne. The so-called "sunshine vitamin" is both vital and fatal for your skin's health. Let's make this clear – enough sun (read: vitamin D) is good for your skin, but too much sun (read: harmful UV rays) can be detrimental for your skin's health. So maybe instead of sweating in the sun longer than you should, look for other natural sources of vitamin D in foods, such as mushrooms, fish, and eggs. Besides, it's super-easy to start your day with a delicious and skin-vitamin-rich breakfast, since most milk and breakfast cereals are fortified with vitamin D. Besides fortified products, you can consider taking vitamin D supplements to accelerate the process of healing and getting your skin to glow.

SNOE Beauty Inc.'s NEW Glam Jam Lip & Cheek Tints!

I love makeup and I couldn’t care less what people think about me wearing makeup or no make. If you prefer natural beauty, well that’s great, if you like someone who’s all dolled up, that’s great too. I won’t ever run a poll on what people prefer me to look, I enjoy makeup and most times I do in fact feel better about myself wearing them. I don’t put on makeup for anyone else but myself.

During my first year in college I got easily acquainted with girls in my class who are kikay and they are the ones who introduced me to the world of makeup. As years go by, I started getting more interested in it and explored more on this area. I even attended some makeup workshops to learn more. Although I didn’t take it to the next level but did it for myself and do makeup of friends and families for events or special occasions.

Buffalo Swing Cafe - Pasig City's Hidden Gem

I was born and raised in Pasig, a true blooded Batang Pasig. I love my hometown, I’ve lived somewhere for a couple of years due to work but being away from family was hard, so I decided to go live near them again. They say Pasig has the worst traffic jams at the moment, but I guess one just needs to get used to it, also that it won’t get better anytime soon. I don’t care, because nothing beats being “home”.

Another thing that I love about my hometown is that you can easily go to just anywhere around Metro Manila because like Mandaluyong it’s at the center (well, almost). Want nature? Travel a few hours to Rizal. Want some city life fix? Travel a few hours to BGC, Makati, Mandaluyong, San Juan or Quezon City. Moreover, this city also never ceases to surprise me with its hidden gems, including gastronomic finds.
