Mindful Mouthfuls: A Thousand Meals for Education

In Celebration of Fo Guang Shan Philippines’ 30th Anniversary, the foundation re-launches its flagship program on the promotion of environmental and spiritual wellness, the Go Green@Mabuhay with this year’s theme on Mindful Mouthfuls: A Thousand Meals for Education. The program aims to bring together a thousand people to practice mindfulness in eating while supporting Fo Guang Shan’s education endeavors for the Filipino youth. Meaningful education is essential for the holistic growth of an individual.

To aid in building a healthy learning environment for the students, FGS is constructing an educational facility, the future home of Guang Ming College in Tagaytay. All proceeds from this event will go to the construction project. We can use this simple and daily activity of eating as a start towards a more mindful living. Carefully choosing what we eat is not only for healthy living but also for environmental protection. Through this event, we hope you will appreciate the taste of various vegetarian cuisines created by devotees and volunteers as well as from our vegetarian restaurant partners.

The Founder:

The Venerable has built over hundreds of temples around the world, founded sixteen Buddhist Colleges, Pu-Men Senior High School, Nanhua University, Fo Guang University, the University of the West in the U.S.A, Nan Tien Institute in Australia and Guang Ming College in the Philippines.

Fo Guang Shan
In 1989, Fo Guang Shan Philippines was established in Cebu. Over the years, branch temples were constructed in three more cities to foster talent through education. Mabuhay Temple is the main branch temple in the Philippines, where Guang Ming College is temporarily housed.

It is open to students of all faiths willing to learn in an environment of mutual respect of one another's customs, cultures, and religions

The Goal
Is not only to provide better opportunities to the Filipino youth, but also to take care of our planet to pass to the next generation. The Go Green@Mabuhay intends to increase awareness, develop and practice mindful eating, at the same time, understand the bigger responsibility that we have in this world. Our future depends on our reality today and we have the capacity to do good, to think good and to speak good, let this be the voice and action we do today.

Soon will rise the GMC in Tagaytay, it will be the future home of the students from different parts of the Philippines and will continue to be a venue for Buddhist Studies and Performing Arts Students.
