Weekend Getaway: Summer, Nature and Team Building at Los Arcos De Hermanos

I always get burned-out from work, I’ve been working my ass off since I passed my Nursing board exams, maybe that’s why. So I won’t usually say no to a quick road trip or a getaway on my weekend off, unless I have something more important thing to do or an event to attend to. When I was invited to experience an overnight stay at Los Arcos De Hermano last weekend with a group of blogger friends, I didn’t give it another thought and said yes ASAP.

I would prefer a quick trip to Tagaytay and enjoy the cool mountain breeze or to the nearest beach so I can dig my toes in the sand, but since Los Arcos is all about nature and is just a few hours away from Manila, I thought I should give it a go after all.

Frank X Dean: Coffee, Chicken, Pizza and SpeakEasy

Fried Chicken, Coffee and Pizza are the things Frank x Dean is known for. But there’s more to this café than meets the eye. Though it opened last July 2014, Frank x Dean is a fairly new place in the BGC Burgos Circle area. Its location is both a blessing and a setback.

A setback because it’s hard to spot since it’s tucked away in a not so busy area of BGC that you need to  look up its location first before you can find it. It’s a blessing because if you want a cozy and quiet place to have coffee, breakfast and a somewhere you can do your work outside an office setting, especially in the morning, Frank and Dean is one of the best places in BGC where you can do that.

SheIn.com's Style 101: Classroom Chic

Being in school is probably the best season in my life. I just have to think about how to pass my subjects and graduate and just be as carefree as I want. I don't have the problems of being an adult like paying the bills and preparing for my future. I met friends that remained true throughout the years whom I still have in my life now. School days are where my best memories are from. If I can bring back time and be in school again, I probably would.

School fashion doesn't have to be boring. Good for you if you don't need to wear uniform daily. You have all the capacity to show off your style every day, unlike if you're required to be in uniforms and only get to wear casual clothing on weekends or when there's no classes. The first university I went to didn’t require any uniform, so you can imagine that every day was a runway for everyone. It can get tiring though; so I was pretty happy when I shifted my major to Nursing that I have to wear a uniform regularly and not think about what to wear for the next school day.

Midas Cafe at Midas Hotel and Casino

Buffets were originally a display of wealth as seen in old-world celebrations. But nowadays, it means to “eat-all-you-can”, whether in an event (for free) or in a restaurant (with a fee). If you need to shed money for it, there’s usually a fixed or set price that you need to pay, no matter how much food you can stuff into your mouth or stomach. And Filipinos are known to be big on buffets, as evidenced of the growing buffet restaurant scene in the Philippines.

Although it mightily ruins my get-fit goals, I love buffets myself. What my strategy is to eat the dishes that I usually don’t get to eat that often and deviate from the ones that are all too common and get smaller portions (which is a struggle for me LOL!). So a couple of weeks back, I was invited to try out Midas Hotel and Casino’s Midas Café Buffet.

Batangueño Comfort Food at Taaleña Tagaytay

For me, Tagaytay is still one of the best places to go to if you want to have a quick getaway and a change of scenery from the everyday city life. It is also, still one of the romantic places in the Philippines, in my opinion. All the green surroundings, the soothing sceneries and the crisp cool breeze are what people from the nearby towns and cities escape to this mountain retreat.

When it comes to dining options, you will never run out of choices in Tagaytay. There’s so many restaurants and cafes that you can find in that area. I’ve been to Tagaytay so many times already, yet I still haven’t tried most of them. A lot times, we will go to where we would usually eat or have coffee. Well, we can be that way, especially when a resto is your go-to place, like every time… But that way of thinking kinda sucks (well for me at least) because there’s a great chance you might miss out on a lot of great things and gastronomic experiences.

NewChic.com Haul # 2 Review

I don't know if it's just a girl thing, but I can't stop myself from shopping for clothes, shoes, and accessories. Even though my closet is already overflowing with them; which some are still unused and still with tags. Fashion and dressing-up is a way of life to me, well.. ok... more of like an obsession. I always find myself browsing thru online apparel retail stores; sometimes without even the slightest inkling on buying anything. I just love pretty things and I'm drawn to it.

But then there are times when I cannot suppress the urge to shop. Especially when what's in front of me, or in this case, what's showing up on my cellphone screen are completely attractive pieces and at super affordable prices. That's exactly what happened to me while I was browsing thru Newchic.com's website.

#Foodporn: Why People Love Watching Food Pictures (Rather Than Preparing It)

The new culture of posting pictures of your food before you maybe eat it is a global trend. Not only does it seem like a new line of interests and hobbies growing out of it, but, it also seems to make food choices harder to pick. On the other hand, people find it fascinating to look at pictures of food others have created, but their appetite is satiated with just that.

Your Mind Will Affect Food Choices
Although you might have it believe that you only eat food which tastes good, over time, you will realize that there is much more to it than satisfying your taste buds. Your mind and mental image of what you are eating will greatly affect whether your food will taste good or bad, even if it has been prepared by a master chef. The power of the mind over food should not be taken lightly, and should be aware the relationship of food you have. In other terms, you might find something tasty, even if looks weird and inedible.

Going Japanese at Big Jap Makati

Of all the international cuisines that I love, Mediterranean and Japanese are on top of my list. I have tried Filipinized and authentic versions of both and I still dig them, No problem. So whenever someone invites me to eat out and we're eating Japanese or Mediterranean, it will be a miracle if my response is that "I'm not going".

I love everything Japanese food, name it and I'll probably eat it. Though my favorites would be the katsus, tempuras, shashimis and sushis. So what would someone who loves them would feel if she's/he's brought to a place where she/he can eat unlimited tempura and tonkatsu? That would be like heaven right? Right!!!

Top Secrets to Becoming A Professional Travel Blogger

Most travel blogs started out as hobbies. A great majority of these blogs never become anything more than that, although their owners dream of turning their hobby into an income earning job. With such a fierce competition and new blogs popping out daily, it is not an easy task to get noticed. It requires serious work and devotion, especially in the first couple of years. If you think you are ready for the challenge regardless of the hard work it involves, keep reading to find out how you can get from writing for fun to writing for money.

1. Building an Audience Is Key
There are various ways in which you can make money from your blog, and new ones are constantly arising. But before money comes audience. And a visitor who navigates to your blog by accident and navigates away from it in a split second does not count as audience. These kinds of visits only increase your bounce rate, not your income. You need to attract and keep an engaged audience that will come back over and over again, like, share and comment your blog posts. There are different techniques in which you can build a fairly decent audience and maintain it. Obviously, you need to have an interesting story to tell, and then you need to know how to tell it and present it in a unique and appealing way. Then the companies looking for cooperation with travel bloggers will come to you.

For the Love of Maxi Dresses

There’s always a problem with being petite and being tall and you’re lucky if you’re on in between. Being petite or tall comes with pros and cons of their own. Tall people often have the problem of finding clothes that have the right lengths for their heights, if they don’t find the correct length for their height they almost can’t do anything to remedy it but to have their clothes custom made. For petite people, I think it’s more advantageous when it comes to buying clothes because if the length doesn’t correspond to your height, you can always have the option to cut it to your height.

I used to think that maxi dresses or maxi skirts wouldn’t be flattering at all for a petite girl like me. I used to believe that wearing short dresses and always wearing high heels or wedges were always the way to go if I want to look tall. But actually wearing maxi dresses or maxi skirts can be a trick to looking or faking people that you are taller than you really are. You can wear sky high heels or wedges without them being seen thus giving an illusion that you taller than you really are.

Buenisimo by Cafe Ysabel

Buenísimo is a Spanish word which means excellent or really good. This is also the aim or catchphrase of the restaurant I was invited to visit a few days ago: Buenisimo by Cafe Ysabel. Buenisimo is a recipient of the Philippine Tatler’s 2009 Best Restaurants award only on its 6th month in operations. It is a sister company of the well-known and 26-year old Cafe Ysabel in Greenhills, San Juan owned by the Gonzales family (who happens to be a family of renowned chefs in the Philippines).

Buenisimo by Cafe Ysabel is located in the Tomas Morato Quezon City, an area of Metro Manila that is a popular dining destination. The restaurant offers modern Italian & Spanish dishes, and also Asian Fusion, Filipino and French cuisines as this restaurant was inspired by the owner's several gastronomic travels to France, Italy, Spain and various parts of the Mediterranean.
