Staycation: A 5-Star Weekend Staycation at the New Clark Marriott Hotel

Who doesn’t crave a quick getaway every now and then? I love travelling to places I’ve never been to once in a while but you know how planning a major trip can get tedious: filing for a vacation leave, booking flights and accommodations, travelling back and forth the airport, half the excitement fizzles away just thinking of everything you have to go through. So it’s really nice to go on a staycation instead; you get to rest and rejuvenate without leaving your country. Plus you also get to rediscover local places and experience it like you’ve never done before.

Contrary to popular belief, staycations can be quite the experience. It’s more than just a few days spent in a hotel, staycations have the ability to alter moods, making you feel as if you’re at a different place and time. That’s why I got excited when my blogger friends Bettina and Princess invited me to join them on a weekend staycation at Marriott Hotel’s newest branch in Clark, Pampanga. Especially that it was my birthday weekend!

Meet Clark Freeport’s First and Only 5-Star GM

“There are only positive things I could say about my stay in the Philippines. Great people, good food, and I’m planning to explore more of the country in the coming days with my wife and children,” says Goeran Soelter, general manager of Clark Marriott Hotel in Clark Freeport. Soelter, who has been in the Philippines for just half a year now, is Clark Freeport’s first and only 5-star General Manager for the obvious reason.

Business is well in the 2-month-old hotel which is something Soelter would like to commend his staff for. “Working in a hotel is like a huge clock which has so many moving parts. Teamwork is essential to make the daily operations run smooth. This involves getting the basics right, training feedback, and looking at process improvements continuously. I am proud of what my team has achieved in a very short amount of time.” He adds, “The team is exceptional and is growing stronger every day. We see happy customers and we continue to work on getting even better.”

Tips To Save Money On Your Kids’ Swimming Lessons

Swimming is not only an incredibly fun summer activity for kids but also an important life skill that everyone should learn. Experts recommend that every kid should learn swimming at an early age to get over the fear of water and learn quickly. If you are planning to enroll your kids for swimming lessons, then use the following tips to save some money on their classes.

Shop For Prices
Ask around to get a fair idea of price and deals the swimming schools are offering. There are many instructors that overcharge parents in the name of safety. While this is definitely an important consideration, you shouldn’t have to pay a too much for it. Ask for beginners or weekly classes to get the maximum value.

Bangkok Travel Diary: Thipsamai, the Best Pad Thai in Bangkok

When the desire to travel started to stir in my heart and venturing outside the Philippines became the main focus of satisfying the burgeoning wanderlust that I was nurturing since my college days; the first ever country that caught my attention was Thailand. It was on top of my list but unfortunately it wasn’t the first foreign soil I stepped onto.

So when the opportunity to visit Bangkok became less murky, flights and hotels were booked. Airfare costs was out of the question because it had to be done as this was a longtime plan of mine and of my closest friends. She comes to this side of the world every few years only so "if not now, when?" So together with two other college friends, we found ourselves on a night flight from Siem Reap to Don Meuang International Airport in Bangkok.

How to Get Victoria's Secret Hair with RebeccaFashion

Aside from Christmas, one of the greatest blessings that we have annually is watching the magic and glamour that is the Victoria's Secret Fashion show. I’ve been an avid fan of this yearly spectacle since the early 2000’s. I’m one of the millions who tune to it every year and an eager buyer of all things Victoria’s Secret. I’ve followed the old and up-coming VS Angels’ careers and all. And it saddens me that one of my favorite VS Angels, Adriana Lima, walked her final VSFS this year. She will be forever be loved and missed on the VS runway.

Sure, we love the gorgeous outfits, the beautiful models, and the creative sets, but most importantly, we can't help but notice how amazing the models' hair looks like all the time. I know that they don’t “woke up like this”. It’s another aspect of VS that I actually admire, the models are real people as well who put hard work on how they look. Though they may be blessed with goddess-like genes, they actually show on their social media the work they put on to look like that. You can see on their social media that they work out, they go to the derma and spa and all other things to keep them looking like divine beings who went down from heaven.

Some Fashionable Essentials - Your Outdoor Gear List

The camping or fishing trip is an occasion to look forward to. The verdant scenery, the soothing shimmering of a water body, and of course, the bonding with friends and family make spending time in the outdoors something we all look forward to. Spending time in the outdoors requires you to take some extra precautions to protect yourself from the elements. You can also be a little fashionable about it – a bit of aesthetics will not harm the rugged practicality of your gear. Here are some suggestions of what you need for your next outdoors experience.

Polarized Glasses
A pair of fancy shades will add a glam element to the outfit that you are wearing. Sunglasses also have a very important purpose. Those who spend a lot of time around water will tell you how straining it can be to the eyes without protection. Imagine being surrounded by a strongly reflective surface – you will not only have to contend with the sun above but also the rays coming off the surface of the water. This is why polarized glasses are a very important part of your outdoor apparel. If you're looking for durable and fashionable all in one, check out a pair of Sunglasses for first responders.

Jin Joo Korean Grill’s Unlimited Korean BBQ Promo

In Korea, Jin-joo is unisex given name but mostly a name referring for a sweet, loving, caring and genuine girl. The name also translates to "pearl". As per Wikipedia, the meaning differs based on the hanja used to write each syllable of the given name. There are 43 hanja with the reading "jin" and 56 hanja with the reading "joo" on the South Korean government's official list of hanja which may be registered for use in given names.

In the Philippines on the other hand, Jin Joo is the brand name of a modern Korean BBQ restaurant offering classic and innovative Korean specialties. Jinjoo prides itself with its bestsellers which include their signature 8-flavored samgyeopsal and Cheese Dung Galbi (baby back ribs wrapped in mozzarella cheese). Introducing the New Dishes at Amici!

Amici is an Italian term that means "a friend". When Filipinos come across Amici, many are transported back to the nostalgic times when it first started out as a cafeteria in Don Bosco, Makati. Amici di Don Bosco dates back to 2001 and was founded by Fr. Gianluigi Colombo, a Salesian Italian priest in charge of overseeing the operations of the Don Bosco Makati Printing Press. Fr Colombo introduced Italian coffee and gelato, brick-oven baked pizza and homemade pasta.

News of great Italian cuisine served turo-turo style spread like wildfire, attracting patrons from all walks of life from all over the metro. Customers experienced a certain warmth and charm, where the staff treated every customer with special attention. The legacy of Fr. Colombo providing authentic Italian cuisine for friends and family continues today with the Moran family and Executive Chef Paolo Moran at the helm.

Achieve Those Victoria Secret Bombshell Waves with RebeccaFashion

It’s the time of the year again and I’m not yet referring to Christmas or the holidays, but it’s the Victoria’s Secret Fashion again! I’ve been closely following since the buzz of this year’s VSFS started not only that I’ve never missed a show since the early 2000’s but because this year a Filipina will walk the VS runway for the first time! I couldn’t be so proud of Kelsey Merritt, I don’t know her personally but I’m a follower of hers on Instagram and I’ve trailed her rise to the runway of Victoria’s Secret together with thousands of other Filipinos who are rooting for her.

I love VS for so many reasons. I love their clothes and lingerie. I love the VS models, the style and fashion that goes along with this brand. I know I’m never gonna be anywhere close to those VS models (maybe in an alternate universe haha!) but I could say that everything about VS has inspired me in so many ways. I own a lot of VS stuff and I’ve copied some of the model’s styles and used those VS products. And one of the things that I’ve always wanted to achieve is that ever famous Victoria’s Secret Bombshell Waves.

Japanese-Korean Buffet for the Whole Month of November at Firefly Roofdeck

If you have been a regular reader or visitor of my blog or other social media, by now, you have an idea that I am someone who loves roof deck or roof top restaurants and/or bars. Whether or not the fickle Manila weather allows, my fondness of alfresco dining and drinking has taken me to a higher level of fun by seeking out the Metro’s best rooftop places. Places where solitude and calming breezes offer me a break from the noise of the real world down below.

In Poblacion, Makati, there’s a couple of rooftop restobars you can hang out at. I don’t know for sure if you’ve heard about Firefly Roofdeck. Well, Esquire Magazine Philippines included it as one of Manila's 7 Coolest Roof-Deck Bars. And I couldn’t see any reason why they shouldn’t include Firefly Roofdeck in that list.

It’s undeniable that technology has been a driving force in all aspects of our lives. Fashion is not spared with the advances in technology. Laziz Restaurant: Filipino-Mediterranean Fusion

Mediterranean cuisine is my second favorite of all the foreign cuisines next to Japanese because of its robust flavors. If someone tells me we’re eating Mediterranean, I won’t even bat an eyelid when I say of yes! It offers one of the most flavorful and interesting types of food. Although this region spans a wide variety of cultures, the historical connections of the region, as well as the impact of the Mediterranean Sea on the region's climate and economy, have led to there being many common elements in the foods.

I went on another Mediterranean food run a few weeks ago with fellow foodies in Antipolo City. Surprisingly there are a few places in the east side that offers authentic Mediterranean cuisines despite the fact that Mediterranean cuisine always leaves diners wanting more. Known for its simple yet exotic ingredients, Mediterranean and one place that you can go to get your flavorful fix of this cuisine is at Laziz Restaurant which serves authentic Mediterranean and Filipino fusion food.

Weekend Getaway: San Fernando Pampanga Old Train Station and Heritage Tour

Pampanga is a province in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines. The name La Pampanga was given by the Spaniards, who encountered natives living along the banks or “pampang” in Tagalog of the Pampanga River. Its creation in 1571 makes it the first Spanish province on Luzon Island (Cebu in Visayas is older as it was founded by the Spaniards in 1565).

The town of Villa de Bacolor in the province briefly served as the Spanish colonial capital when Great Britain invaded Manila as part of the Seven Years' War. At the eve of the Philippine Revolution of 1896, Pampanga was one of eight provinces placed under martial law for rebellion against the Spanish Empire; it is thus represented on the Philippine national flag as one of the eight rays of the sun.

RebeccaFashion Guide: Thick, Bouncy, Shiny, Beautiful Black Hair!

In today’s beauty and fashion scene when lightly-dyed or colorfully-dyed hair is the norm, it is refreshing to see someone who would go back to the basic and would stick to a monotone colored hair. Did you know that Black is considered as the most common hair color in the world, and is due to a large amount of eumelanin. Brown is second and is also common, and is due to eumelanin mixed with a bit of pheomelanin and blond is only found in about 2% of the world's population? Surprising right?!

Long black hair is always fun style and to have. The dark, captivating, mysterious color is perfect for any season or occasion. Most of the time it is also considered very edgy and so versatile. I used to sport long black locks most of my life until I dyed them light and can’t ever go back anymore. But surely many consider it a favorite color for good reason as long black tresses has that power.

Epic Pampanga Food Crawl: 7 Places Where You Can Fill Your Tummy When in San Fernando

Pampanga is generally agreed and known as the Culinary Capital of the Philippines. Many of the home cooked dishes that gets served in our households like tocino, sisig, halo halo, pancit palabok, morcon, kamaron, buro etc., have roots to Kapampangan cuisine. Not to mention many of the Philippines’ revered culinary experts, restauranteurs and chefs hail from Pampanga like: Chef Sau Del Rosario, Chef Claude Tayag, Larry J. Cruz, The Razons, The Hizons and others.

I have visited parts of Pampanga one too many times and I have tried some of its well-known places to eat. But not until last weekend that I got to experience a gastronomic journey of epic proportions with my blogger friends during the Giant Lantern Festival Bloggers Tour which was organized by the City Government of San Fernando (Tourism Promotion and Caravan Sub Committee) together with the Giant Lantern Festival Foundation Inc.Yalla Book of Coupons and San Fernando Lantern Makers Association.

The Art of Dressing Fancy

Dressing fancy is an art by itself where you combine aesthetics with style inculcating them into a theme of choice. This is a very popular pastime for people who love dressing up and being innovative with clothes and accessories. It is becoming a trend for schools as well to hold special days exclusively for dressing up. Festivals like Halloween encourage people to celebrate by dressing up and have a great time. For children and adults alike, picking out and perfecting a costume for Halloween to go trick or treating is an exciting and indulging process. However, perfection is the utmost necessity to pull off a great costume that would make heads turn when you walk into the room.

If you’re explaining, you’re losing
The key to an effective costume is legibility. The watching eyes should be able to easily relate and understand who you’re trying to enact with your costume. If you have to provide a narrative to the people who see you, it’s clear proof that the costume is a failure. Dressing up excites adults as it is a reminder of their childhood and the fact that they can be anyone they want to be adds to the whole point of the activity.
