Introducing the New Dishes at Amici!

Amici is an Italian term that means "a friend". When Filipinos come across Amici, many are transported back to the nostalgic times when it first started out as a cafeteria in Don Bosco, Makati. Amici di Don Bosco dates back to 2001 and was founded by Fr. Gianluigi Colombo, a Salesian Italian priest in charge of overseeing the operations of the Don Bosco Makati Printing Press. Fr Colombo introduced Italian coffee and gelato, brick-oven baked pizza and homemade pasta.

News of great Italian cuisine served turo-turo style spread like wildfire, attracting patrons from all walks of life from all over the metro. Customers experienced a certain warmth and charm, where the staff treated every customer with special attention. The legacy of Fr. Colombo providing authentic Italian cuisine for friends and family continues today with the Moran family and Executive Chef Paolo Moran at the helm.

Chef Paolo worked in restaurant kitchens in Florence and Sicily for a year to learn the culinary traditions of true Italian cooking. Here he learned the importance of freshness to bring about the authentic flavors of Italy.

A few weeks back, I was invited to the launch of Amici's new menu items. The new menu takes the name of "Taste of Italy" which features mostly tomato-based dishes which we all know is red which I think is a color just perfect for the coming holidays. These dishes are now available in Amici’s menu for a limited time.

Creamy Tomato Soup - stewed tomatoes with basil and cream topped with bacon bits. Available in cup and bowl.

Smoked Salmon Dip - smoked salmon and fresh dill herbs all mixed in a creamy spread with a hint of lemon.

Amici continues the legacy of authentic Italian dining through its dishes made for sharing with friends and family. Food is best enjoyed when shared with others over joy and laughter and that is the same experience Amici wishes to share with everyone whenever they dine at Amici. So make Amici your place for the upcoming non-stop get togethers with your families and friends this coming holiday season.
