Japanese-Korean Buffet for the Whole Month of November at Firefly Roofdeck

If you have been a regular reader or visitor of my blog or other social media, by now, you have an idea that I am someone who loves roof deck or roof top restaurants and/or bars. Whether or not the fickle Manila weather allows, my fondness of alfresco dining and drinking has taken me to a higher level of fun by seeking out the Metro’s best rooftop places. Places where solitude and calming breezes offer me a break from the noise of the real world down below.

In Poblacion, Makati, there’s a couple of rooftop restobars you can hang out at. I don’t know for sure if you’ve heard about Firefly Roofdeck. Well, Esquire Magazine Philippines included it as one of Manila's 7 Coolest Roof-Deck Bars. And I couldn’t see any reason why they shouldn’t include Firefly Roofdeck in that list. 

Firefly Roofdeck is one of the three in house restaurants of City Garden Grand Hotel. This hotel’s 32nd floor perch offers a beautifully distracting vantage point from which to gaze down upon the busy streets below. Firefly will elevate your average al fresco dining experience by making your way up to this rooftop resto-bar. It’s very spacious and occupies almost 3/4 of the entire floor area. There’s also so many seating areas you can choose from where you can dine while admiring the exceptional city views of the neighboring Makati areas.

This place is creating a buzz not only because of the view they are offering while you dine but also of what they have to offer. Firefly is becoming one of the “it” places to be in Poblacion Makati as evidence by the pack of crowds visiting this place even on weeknights. For the whole month of November, to spice things up, they are now offering Japanese-Korean Buffet for only PHP 800++. I had the privilege of sampling this new spread during their launch and here are what’s included in this buffet selection:

Salad/Appetizer: Kimchi, Sigeumchi Namul, Oi Muchim, Hobak Bokkeum, Gaji Namul, Gamja Jorim, Mu Saengchae, Pajeori, Eomuk Bokkeum. Salad Bar: Chawanmushi, dressings include Wafu, Ponzu, Yangnyeom Jang. The Japanese Bar has assorted maki rolls, shrimp and veggie tempuras and takoyaki.

Of course a Korean buffet won’t be complete without some Korean BBQ which includes Marinated Pork and Chicken (4 kinds all in all) and you have to have it cook-to-order. Assorted Rolls has breads & crackers and soup is Korean Samgyetang (Ginseng Chicken Soup). Okonomiyaki and Pajeon both of which are my faves!

Like all buffets there’s always a Carving Meat/Centerpiece, for this they opted for the Buta no Kakuni which is Japanese Braised Pork Belly and it’s really super tender and flavorful!

Main Course includes Cheese Tteokbeokki (Spicy Rice Cake), Chicken Nanban (Deep-Fried Chicken w/ Tartar Sauce), Gaji Namul (Steamed Eggplants), Japchae and Tori Chahan.

Desserts comprises of Sata Andagi (Okinawan Doughnuts), Chefs' Discretion Dessert and Fresh Fruit Platter.

For the selection of the Korean and Japanese food available in this buffet, it’s a bang for the buck. Not only that you get to eat good food Jap and Kor favorites, Firefly also has with a beautiful city view to boot. Perfect for dates with a special someone, with friends and families.
