4 Tips on How to Reduce Fine Lines and Wrinkles Without Medical Procedures

As we get older, we all start to notice fine lines and wrinkles. They usually happen on the parts of the body that see the most sun exposure, including the face, neck, tops of the forearms, and the backs of the hands. With the aging process, skin cells divide more slowly, and the dermis, the skin's inner layer, begins to thin. That reflects on the skin's structure and stretchiness.

The skin starts to lose its ability to hold onto moisture as well during this time. Other factors also contribute to wrinkles and fine lines appearance. Some of them are skin type, heredity, repeated facial expressions, stress, gravity, staring into screens, pollution, smoking, etc.

Here are some tips on how to minimize fine lines and wrinkles without surgical and medical interventions.

Regularly use sunscreen
According to dermatologists, the general rule of thumb is to start your anti-aging prevention sometime in your 20s and 30s. Since it's well known that excessive exposure to the sun can lead to premature aging, the first thing you should do is use adequate sunscreen. Studies show that regular sunscreen use can slow down the signs of aging skin. To protect your skin from the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays, it's essential to regularly apply sunscreen with an SPF of between 30 and 50. You should do it even during cold days and even if it's overcast. So don't skip sunscreen just because it isn't sunny because UV rays can still penetrate clouds and damage your skin, causing premature aging.

Don't avoid retinoids
One of the most studied anti-aging ingredients is retinoids which are derived from vitamin A. Also known as retinol, the mentioned ingredients can boost collagen production, which is helpful to plump up the skin. Retinoids also promote the creation of new blood vessels. In that way, they encourage skin regeneration which can enhance the skin's texture and overall appearance. There are five types of retinoids and each has different degrees of efficiency. Some of them are available in gels and creams, while others require a prescription. According to dermatologists, it is advisable starting with a small amount of retinol to test your skin's tolerance to the product. To avoid peeling, you should then use it every other day. Ask your dermatologist which option is right for you.

Moisturize your skin
Quality moisturizers act like drinking water for your face. They help to hydrate and nourish your skin which is especially vital as you get older. Your skin becomes prone to fine lines and wrinkles if it is dry and not moisturized enough. Besides, much research shows that moisturizers that contain vitamin C and hyaluronic acid can prevent fine lines from forming or getting deeper. Talk to your dermatologist about which moisturizer is the best for you. But if you prefer reliable anti-aging moisturizing options, opt for proven quality Australian skin care products such as Lumen Facial Treatment Cleanser, Inception sleeping Cream & Mask, Hydra Ampoule Face Mask, and many more.

Consume vitamin-rich food
When it comes to your skin, the saying "You are what you eat" is particularly true. According to the research, women who consume a high amount of unhealthy snacks and red meat tend to have more fine lines and wrinkles than women whose diets include more fruit and vegetables. Foods that are high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties can also protect against premature aging and enhance the skin's elasticity. Therefore, consume vitamin-rich food such as olive oil, green tea, avocados, pomegranates, and salmon. Besides, include flax seeds and various sorts of vegetables, especially leafy greens, carrots, broccoli, pumpkin, and bell peppers. Of course, drink a lot of water to make sure your skin is hydrated.

Fine lines and wrinkles are a part of aging. To minimize them and prevent the formation of new ones, it is necessary to pay attention to your lifestyle, quit smoking, drink plenty of water, and protect your skin from the harmful sun effects. On the other hand, when it comes to cosmetic products, dermatologists recommend using moisturizer products that contain retinol, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid.
