I’ve always been fascinated with anything Japanese, especially their literature and food. I’ve also always dreamt of doing a traditional tea ceremony and the ceremonial way of wearing a full kimono, complete with hairstyle and make up, just like what traditional geishas used to do before their profession was degraded. I still have this yearning that one day God will bless me the opportunity to travel to Japan; experience the Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Festival, visit the ancient temples and castles, see Mt. Fuji, ride the bullet train and eat loads of authentic sushi and sashimi!
This is me for my college graduation creative pictorials. I have planned this all along and commissioned my designer sister Hazel to create my entire look. This is as far as I can go for dressing up in a traditional looking kimono, lol but I would still love to experience the Kimono-wearing ceremony someday.
Japanese have a very elaborate and unique way when it comes to clothing. The kimono really amazes me and the modern JPop culture. Nowadays kimonos are only worn during special occasions. But you know, you can always have an Japanese/Kimono-inspired ensemble because of the modern take of various designers and apparel manufacturers all over the world.
Kimono, literally means thing to wear, there are a lot of styles of kimono-inspired garments, like blouses, tunics, cardigans, vests, jackets, and mini & maxi dresses, they are as diverse as you can imagine. Of course you wouldn’t wear the traditional style if you’re not in Japan attending a special festival or ceremony. But if you still want to exude that oriental style vibe in your ensemble, go and check out SheInside.com’s range of kimono-inspired apparel for a gorgeous look for day or night. And did I mention that they are on sale too? Yes! Some are even 40% off!

Kimono styled clothing items are very feminine, they never go out of style and are always figure-flattering. The flared sleeves of a kimono does a wonderful job of hiding thick arms, the empire cut of a kimono-inspired dress highlights the smallest part of your torso, thus giving a slimming effect, They are also comfortable and great to wear at any occasion. Not to mention it’s versatility, you can use them to layer clothing, as it is or as a swimsuit cover up. Isn’t it great that you will spend once for an item that can give you one or more ways to use it? Well that’s called value for your money my dear…
