I just love this quote from one of the most renowned authors of all time... In this day and age where the standards of one's beauty, happiness and success always springs from comparing your self and your life with someone else (or maybe there are people in your lives who do that for you). That there's always a need to become just like that person or surpass what that person have; and sometimes the motivating factor to be better is not "to be better" but is rooted in greed or worse envy...
A couple of weeks back, I've had a short conversation through email with a fellow blogger who I'm also following. And she told me she's kinda conscious every time she posts on her fashion blog. I told her that we can never please anyone or everyone and she should just continue to do what she loves to do so long as she doesn't do anything offensive to anyone and negative comments are nothing of importance so why bother.
As for me, I used to be always well-dressed and made up, until the time I slowly lost self-confidence. I always think people will make fun of me or talk behind my back because most of the time I put great effort on what I would wear or how I would look, that I maybe overly conscious or too high maintenance. But come to think of it, have I offended anyone for being me because of the way I dress or because I buy way too many clothes? For one I was raised in a household, from my grandmother to my parents up until my sister, who's for years the source of income is apparel and is greatly influenced by fashion. I can't remember a time when my grandmother isn't wearing nice clothes even if she's at home and she's one of my great influences when it comes to fashion. I think the only time that it is bad to "be yourself" and not be sorry for it, is when you nurture bad attitudes, vices or beliefs that they most often than not offends someone else or you get too narrow-minded and thinks that the world owes you something or that it revolves around you.
Ok, enough of being serious... let's start to look at the bright side of life and have no care at all for what others might say about us as long as we don't conform to the box that they want us to be in. i know a lot of girls run to retail therapy when they're upset and I can be honest in admitting I am one of those girls. Like at this moment, I am browsing through the website of one of my favorite online clothing store, Sheinside.com because they're having a sale where a lot of the clothes that are in my wishlist are on sale and is included in the buy 1 and get 1 at 50% off! Woot!!!
