Let’s Talk About Silhouettes

Since it’s already May, and next month is June, which is wedding month my blog will be probably featuring a lot about weddings and all the details related to it. Preparing for a wedding takes a lot of hard work and a lot of things to consider. Nowadays the bride’s wedding dress is a one of the highlights of any wedding and it isn't pretty easy to choose one.

A lot of considerations should be put into it and sometimes you get bombarded with too many ideas that you see on wedding websites, Pinterest, magazines etc., that most often than not, a bride gets too overwhelmed and frustrated. Most brides have the dilemma looking for that perfect dress and can’t decide what silhouette and style they would like to have for their height and body type.

Now when it comes to the silhouette of the dress to choose, one can never go wrong with choosing a trumpet/mermaid cut or also less popularly known as the fishtail silhouette. It goes well with any body type and flatters every girl's assets. Fishtail wedding dresses are close fitting through the bodice, down through the hips and to about mid or lower calf where the skirts flares out.  Most trumpet/mermaid/ fishtail wedding gowns begin to flare at about mid-thigh, and can be thought of as a sort of hybrid between the mermaid silhouette and the modified A-line silhouette

Benefits of the trumpet/mermaid/ fishtail silhouette:
- Adds feminine curves to a straight figure
- Offers a well-balanced display of drama and glamour
- Is a great option for full-figured brides as it offers the perfect balance of curve accentuation and minimization.
- Allows more freedom of movement
- Less constrictive, and the flare generally starts at about mid-thigh

If you’re not yet sold with my advice, you can check out other types of wedding dress silhouettes online. I would also suggest checking out if you would like the idea of wearing a chiffon wedding dress. I love the idea of chiffon as a material for wedding dresses. I own a lot of apparel made of chiffon because they are lightweight, flows and falls gracefully onto my body.  But then again, you’re the bride, and it will be all up to you at the end of the day. *winks
