I've visited Cebu three times in the past, but for me it was always only just a jump off point to Bohol or Siargao. I would just usually spend a day or day and a half in the Queen City of the South and I was not really able to experience this vibrant city. Cebu is probably the other city state outside of Luzon that is urbanized and equally progressive as Manila.
Although it is a metropolitan area, what I like about Cebu is that destinations where you can enjoy nature is easily within reach. Mountainous areas like in Busay is just a few minutes away from the city, world-class beach resorts in Mactan Island is just an hour away while Bantayan Island, Moalbal (diving site) and Oslob (whale shark watching) are just a few hours away.
If Mövenpick Beach Hotel has Ibiza Beach Club, Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort has Oyster Bar and Crimson Resort and Spa has Azure Beach Club, Jpark Resort and Water Park also prides itself with its own over-water restaurant/lounge/bar: Havana By The Sea.
Havana by the Sea is an open-air restaurant and bar built along the shoreline of the resort that makes the most of Mactan's spectacular coastal views. I can't help but sing Camila Cabello's "Havana" song whenever I remember this place. I seriously want someone to "Ooh na-na, oh na-na-na, Take me back, back, back, Ooh-ooh-ooh, Ooh-ooh-ooh, Take me back to my Havana..." I'm not kidding... Hahahaha!
Over at Havana by the Sea, guests may enjoy dynamic music and dance performances in a cozy and soothing picturesque setting. It is the ideal place to unwind in the middle of a busy Cebu metropolis as this place occasionally hosts rave parties and live band performances.
It has the qualities of both being is trendy and cozy making it a great spot inside the resort to relax with a cocktails and great food to end the day and start the night.
Nothing beats lounging by the beach whatever the time of the day it is. But my personal favorite times are usually during sunrise and sunset. Nothings calms my restless soul but just being on a beach watching such from the distance. It was our last day in Cebu and at JPark, it was bitter-sweet to say the least but that final few moments seating there by one of the lounge chairs while passing time just before we head to the airport was one of those moments I get to say to myself that "Life is good and it will be better."
