Denim Jackets: A Timeless Fashion Must-Have

Denim was traditionally colored blue with indigo dye to make blue jeans, though the word "jean" formerly denoted a different, lighter, cotton fabric. The contemporary use of the word "jean" comes from the French word for Genoa, Italy, where the first denim trousers were made. Denim has been used in the USA since the late 18th century. It was introduced to California by Levi Strauss, who—in 1853, during the California Gold Rush—imported denim fabric from France and used it to create sturdy, solid trousers that would later become the omnipresent blue jeans.

The use of the denim cloth was not limited to just pants or trousers. The fashion industry had found ways to use it for other forms of clothing like skirts, shorts, blouse or polo and jackets. The denim jacket had been a closet staple for both men and women since time immemorial.
You can actually wear a denim jacket with almost any outfit. You can pair with your favorite jeans or layer over it over a feminine blouse or a dress, to give you that edgier look. The denim jacket’s versatility is endless!

Denim also comes in a lot of colors, there are the dark indigo ones, bleached, black and even multi-colored denims. You can also find ones that are paired with fleece or leather or the worn out types for that more rock star feel.

The thickness of denim jackets also varies. If you’re going to use it for more casual and in a humid weather, you can opt for lighter ones. If you’ll going to need one for a colder weather find the ones that are made with thicker threads for more warmth.
