Here’s A Bright Idea, Light up Your Home with Light Fixtures That Make a Statement

I've always had a longing to have my own home, a place a can always call home and go to at the end of a tiring work day that will be a place where I can put my feet up and relax before I hit the sack. My dream home would be a modern-country home standing along a beautiful coast, like somewhere in a South Carolina or Virginia Beach with interior design and decor of soft motif hues of turquoise, aqua, yellow and ocean blues.

I would want huge windows that will allow natural sunlight to shine in through in the mornings and with beautiful and vintage lighting fixtures to illuminate the areas of the house in the evening. I want every area of the house to be spaces that you can cozy up every time you want to.

I'm no interior designer, but I sure do have a penchant for pretty things. Illumination, as all good designers know, is a crucial element for any interior design scheme. Well-executed lighting can always jazz up a space, provide a splash of chic and enhance the ambiance of an entire home.

When most people think of chandeliers, they think of fancy fixtures dripping with sparkling glass. If this is to your taste, it's fine. But as long as the fixture both hangs and displays multiple bulbs, it's a chandelier; so any style is possible. Once you’ve decided on the desired lighting effect, the devil is in the details. When designing a home, Simmons creates a lighting plan for each space depending on the function of each room. Chandeliers, for example, provide vintage glamour and elegance as well as ambient light. They can hang alone or in pairs in the dining room, living room, bedroom or even the bath.

If I have to pick ones for my dream house, I go for those quirky, hipster crystal pendant lighting. Pendant lights are lighting that hangs from a wire or pole-suspended over kitchen islands or breakfast room tables are a great way to make a statement. I've been seeing a lot of these used to illuminate fancy restaurants and I've always fancied them and dreams of having them one day in my future home.

Casting your home in the right light is like creating a work of art. The secret is to know exactly what type of light you want and you’re working with. I already know what lighting fixtures I'm going to get for my dream house, what do you guys think of them?
