Fastbreak Sports Bar and Grill - Antipolo

Most people picture Antipolo as a suburban area and that their minds automatically wander to a mountain place with cool breeze and green sceneries; like a quick sanctuary from the busy city life.  However, Antipolo throughout the years have transformed into a full-blown city with malls and establishments springing like mushrooms here and there. Although its allure is still there because it still possess places with great vantage point of the lowlands below especially at night.

We all know that a few things unite the human race, especially Filipinos is sports. It’s a way of life, and the ultimate escape from whatever phase in our lives that we are locked into at the moment. But it’s also fun, social and a great way to meet new friends thanks to alcohol and team spirit. Welcome to the sports bar, where you can find just about that.

Along Sumulong Highway, you can find so many restaurants and even B&Bs that you can hang out at. But have you noticed that there isn’t actually a legit sports bar around that area? Well, great news co-inhabitants in the East side, you can now find one in Antipolo! Everyone, meet Fastbreak Sports Bar and Grill.

Fastbreak Sports Bar and Grill is I believe the first sports bar in Antipolo. From the sign to its interiors, you won’t mistake it as a sports bar. You can find vintage signs and sports jerseys on its walls. Plus large televisions that screens sports shows; a darts corner; a punching bag in one corner and a foosball table and a bar to boot as well.

One area can also be closed out for private events that comes with consumable food. The staff told us that they usually do sports contest screenings here just like the recent Pacquiao boxing match, soccer games, NBA games and now UAAP games. Live performances are also being held here on a regular basis.

I, together with some fellow foodies, went here not to watch any sports show or drink but to try the food that they had to offer. Most of us think that sports bar food sucks, surprisingly, Fastbreak Sports Bar and Grill offer good-tasting grubs that comes in a good amount of serving that a dish is already good for 2-3 persons.

Here are the bar food/dishes that we got to try:

Cheesy Mushroom Melt Burger - whenever I hear this burger variation, I feel some form of dismay, as the number one place where you can get it doesn’t serve it the way it used to be. Thank goodness that my perspective was changed by Fastbreak because they brought back my faith in burgers. I mean, come on, just look at how appetizing it is. If that melted cheese doesn’t make you drool, I don’t know what could. It’s patty is also thick unlike the more mainstream one. I’m not really a fan of burgers, but this one I would eat anytime.

Chicken Wings - these chicken wings comes in the following flavors: Garlic Parmesan, Teriyaki, Barbecue, Honey Garlic, Spicy and Sriracha. For this visit, we were served half orders of each flavors. But you can only order a plate in one flavor. My favorites were the garlic parmesan, barbecue and honey garlic. The spicy and sriracha was too spicy for my liking. What I love about these chicken wings are the size of the pieces, they were larger than the usual and that’s not just because of the coating, the chicken wings were really huge.

Shrimp Scampi Pasta - shrimps are served with linguine pasta in a white wine-and-butter sauce with fresh tomatoes. This pasta was buttery and lush. Simple yet feels very indulgent.

Fish and Potato Wedges - what speaks more bar food than fish and chips? Well, this good and tasty combo was one of the best I’ve eaten at Fastbreak. Even though the fish and the fries have gotten cold, it was surprising that the coating of fish didn’t lost its crispiness. The fries didn’t go soggy as well. They weren’t greasy even.

Seafood Combo - contains generous amounts of shrimps and squid rings mixed with veggies and tofu. This was a bit spicy but tolerable. I find this as one of the best grub while drinking beer or cocktails while watching gigs or sports events at Fastbreak.

Nachos - these nachos are super cheesy and your perfect combo for beer as well. Serving was generous too.

Pork Sisig - what I love about Fastbreak’s sisig is that is has more pork liver bits than pork fat or chopped pork ears; which made this sisig tastier than ever.

Bacon and Mushroom Pizza - I love that three of my favorite things are in this pizza: cheese, bacon and mushroom. Can there be more a perfect combo? Guess not. Also you know when a pizza is a good pizza when even if it’s not hot anymore, it still tastes good.

House Salad - this is a colorful and very tasty mix of chicken, mangoes, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, and croutons in a tangy dressing.

Drinks: House Iced Tea and Lemonade - I liked their iced tea better as it has more flavor to it than than lemonade.

I know for sure, Fastbreak Sports Bar and Grill could easily be the go-to sports bar for East-siders because it has a fun atmosphere and some truly excellent bar food. Make sure to make this place part of your sports-watching plans and you’ll eat well even if the athlete or the team you are rooting for  is a complete disappointment. Just kidding!
