NIU by Vikings Now Open at The Podium Mall!

Buffets were originally a display of wealth as seen in old-world celebrations. But nowadays, it means to “eat-all-you-can”, whether in an event or in a restaurant. If you need to shed money for it, there’s usually a fixed or set price that you need to pay, no matter how much food you can stuff into your mouth or stomach. And Filipinos are known to be big on buffets, as evidenced of the growing buffet restaurant scene in the Philippines.

Although it mightily ruins my get-fit goals, I love buffets myself. What my strategy is to eat the dishes that I usually don’t get to eat that often and deviate from the ones that are all too common and get smaller portions (which is a struggle for me LOL!). A week ago, I was invited by one of my blogger friend Princess (www.phantasmdarkstar.com) as her plus one during the early days of the soft opening of NIU by Vikings at their newest and second branch at the Podium Mall.

NIU (which means “nine” in the Viking language) is the sixth installation of the Vikings group after its arrival in the Philippines way back in 2011. Established at the lavish atmosphere of SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Niu stands out with its huge and decorative space along with its massively wide variety of international and local cuisines. Niu understands that Filipinos are excited for new flavors hence the commitment of bringing the finest dishes from all over the world. Guests can take the pleasure of appreciating delicious food while being in an ambience full of grandeur and comfort.

NIU offers a wide selection of food that guests will sure enjoy. With a variety of dishes that range from Mediterranean, Chinese, & Japanese to French and Italian cuisines, NIU’s guests will definitely feel an evolved dining experience. We hold nine different stations with a various selection of meals. You are sure to feast on these distinctly appetizing dishes from all over the globe.

I always loved Vikings as it is one of the most decent buffet brands in the country and I’ve tried NIU before, their upscale version and loved it as well. The Podium branch of NIU I think looks better and fresher than the first branch. It is well-lit because of the huge windows with views of the Ortigas CBD. The color scheme is also regal with the use of dark blues and plums. Seats and tables are lavish and plush for a very comfortable dining experience. The entire area is so posh with lots of chic chandeliers and classy decorations. A grand piano at the center of the restaurant, can also be found, just like at the SM Aura branch.

Just like the first branch, NIU by Vikings at the Podium Mall has nine stations offering various mouth-watering dishes that range from Italian, French, Mediterranean, Japanese, & Chinese. In addition to this, state-of-the-art materials and kitchen equipment are used in this one of its kind buffet restaurant which ensures the guests of the quality of their food.

My three most favorite areas are the Carving Station, Japanese and the Desserts section. NIU, The Podium has a very impressive Carving Station and I love every meat that I tried on there. My only problem is that the staff kinda overcooks the meat eve if you ask them to cook it medium-rare. I love the Japanese station because of the different kinds of rolls. My favorite was the caviar roll, the aburis and most specially the fresh salmon sashimis!

And the desserts, I actually tried most of them, just check out how full my plate was! The only thing that I noticed is that their ice cream is not gelato anymore. But it was ok since their avocado and ube ice creams are so so good! Also I loved that they have Foie Gras this time around but it was in a ravioli with lots of Manchego, still was super good. And oh, they have lobsters and oysters too! We were lucky they have that day.

This is why I love NIU by Vikings, because some of those stuff I just mentioned a while back, you can only find them in hotel buffets and we all know that hotel buffets can be very pricey. At the end of the day, how one can say no to unlimited food with little cost? So what are you waiting for go and check out NIU at the Podium Mall.
