Will the milk tea craze cease to exist? I guess not! Filipinos patronize and love milk tea so much that a lot of brands from neighboring Asian countries continue to venture out to our shores. Who can blame us? We love sweet stuff and milk tea is something that is affordable and easy to bring around. It's a dessert and drink at the same time, giving us a bang for our buck.
A new player in the Philippine milk tea arena is JLD Dragon which has over 30 branches all over Asia and is now in the Philippines. Hails all the way from the milk tea capital of the world, Taiwan, Ji Long Tang, better known as “JLD” is known for its crave-worthy drinks and desserts that are sure to make you come back for more.
I was able to attend the media launch of JLD's flagship branch in Manila at the Veranda of Robinson's Galleria, where we were treated with drinks and desserts (and food) to our heart's content. They also provided games where there's no losing; as each guest got to play and win JLD products. We got to take souvenir photos from the photobooth that they also set up.
So, we tried the following signature drinks from JLD Dragon:
Brown Sugar Bubble Thick Milk – one of the signature drinks of JLD and their selling point drink. What's special about it you might ask, well, this uses Holly's milk giving a creamier and thicker milk tea consistency. Their pearls or bobba also have that strong burnt sugar taste creating a very bold taste.
Brown Sugar Matcha Bubble Milk – Not as creamy as the Brown Sugar Bubble Thick Milk and has a strong matcha flavor. If you're a huge fan of matcha, you'll surely enjoy this
Brown Sugar Bubble Oolong Tea Latte – One of JLD's tea line. The tea flavor is super robust that it can sub as your caffeine fix that you get from your coffee.
Passion Fruit Lemon Black Tea – One of JLD's fruit tea series. This was super tangy but gets neutralized by the black tea. Super refreshing!
Brown Sugar Bubble Milk – another signature drink of JLD, it's just like the Brown Sugar Bubble Thick Milk but less thick. Don't worry it's creamy too.
Just like I said earlier, JLD also offers a yummy line of desserts besides their milk tea drinks. Their signature desserts are what's featured below. Although when I visited again the other day, I found out they also offer other usual desserts like chocolate cake and regular cheesecake.
