Being Vegan Is Easier Than You Think

If you tried your hand at Veganuary, and now you are wondering whether you might want to try again in the future, or simply keep it up, you are not alone.

There is a general trend in that direction at the moment, and it is perfectly possible that the way will yet come when we look back on the time we used to eat animals as a truly barbaric one. Whatever your political opinions, it’s a fact that the vegan diet is good for you, as long as you do it right. But a lot of people are put off by what they assume to be a complex and troublesome diet. Actually, being vegan is amazingly simple, and it’s something that anyone can do easily enough.

Substituting Meat
At first, you might simply want to cook the old meals that you have always cooked, but substitute the meat for a non-meat alternative, and swap out the dairy.

This is a good stepping-stone, although not the healthiest way to be vegan, and it's something you might want to consider. It is, for one thing, incredibly easy, and you can still produce some delicious meals this way - just look at this tofu musubi, for instance. Substituting meat out and cooking the same old meals is a good way to transition, but ultimately you should try to move on from that at some point on to healthier meals and eating better.

Focus On The Veg
You might find that being vegan is easier if you approach it slightly differently in terms of how you think about it. Instead of thinking of it as being vegan, and making this huge sacrifice, simply consider it a plant-based diet, in which you are aiming to eat as many vegetables as you possibly can, and as much of a variety of them as possible. If you can do that, you are going to find that it is a lot easier to do the vegan thing, and that you end up having the same results and diet anyway. Focus on the veg itself, and being vegan is going to be something of a walk in the park, in fact.

Be Sure To Get Your Nutrients
There is a danger of not getting all of the nutrients and minerals you need when you become vegan. You have to be very careful to make sure that you are still getting everything you need, otherwise your body is going to be starved for those things and you are going to struggle to keep at it. You could actually become quite unhealthy.

But it’s simple enough - eat a rainbow of fruit and veg every day, and make sure that you take a B12 supplement every day. As long as you do that, you are going to find that you are much more likely to keep at your new vegan diet. And hopefully, you will enjoy it enough that you will want to stick to it for good. Then it is just a case of converting your friends
