Road Trips You Should Take in 2020/2021

It may seem to you that planning a road trip in this situation is completely pointless and you would be right. Right now, we’re all fighting a battle much more serious than any other. We’re trying to stay safe and alive, but unless we have something to look forward to once this pandemic is over, what’s the point of all our efforts to be healthy and alive? So, don’t give in to depression, but start planning something exciting to do. And what is more exciting than a great road-trip? Here are just some ideas for a fabulous experience waiting for you.

The Great Ocean Road, Australia
Let’s start from the land down under. Stretching over 200 km, this road takes you through historic seaside towns, breath-taking beaches and some of the most amazing national parks. Start your journey in the town of Torquay, near Melbourne and set off to explore Bells Beach, the waterfalls in the Great Otway National Park or climb to the top of Cape Otway Lightstation to marvel at the ocean in front of you. Make sure you dedicate enough time to the wild and dramatic Shipwreck Coast and its islets. Researching up on travel itineraries before leaving would be a good idea to ensure you don't miss anything planning. If possible, avoid doing this road-trip in summer, because there is a lot of traffic and the temperatures are really high.

The Silk Road, China
Every history buff would surely appreciate following in the footsteps of traders who used this road connecting China and the Mediterranean for almost two thousand years. However, be ready to travel more than 6,000 km across countries, although you can only choose a section of the route, of course. Whichever option you choose, just make sure your car is roadworthy and get some quality car parts, such as tail lights and daylight driving lights, before you start the trip and ensure that you have a few spare ones, just in case. Only then can you truly enjoy sites, such as Mogao Cave with 492 Buddhist temples, Yumen Pass and the Rainbow Mountain in the Danxia Scenic Area, famous for being one of the “Top 10 Geographical Wonders of the World” by National Geographic.

Las Vegas, USA
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, as you’ve probably heard. Well, the area around Vegas can really offer so much, that it would be pity not to share your impressions with the world. Imagine visiting the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend (where the Colorado River bends around in a horseshoe shape), or Monument Valley, which is a cluster of sandstone rocks pushed up from the ground. Finally, you can visit the Zion National Park for some amazing views and hiking. As you can see, there is so much to do and see, that you most definitely won’t regret choosing the area around Las Vegas.

London to Edinburgh, UK
Now, if you’re interested in an unforgettable trip that includes stunning natural and historic sites, you should definitely consider driving from London to Edinburgh. Most people fly or take the train between the two cities, but they don’t know what they’re missing. You can stop and visit York, Liverpool or Manchester if you love urban areas or some world-famous national parks, such as the Lake District, Peak District, or the Yorkshire Dales. You’ll also drive through some areas that not many people visit, which only makes the trip more memorable.

Teheran to Qeshm, Iran
There aren’t many road trips that take you through more scenic views than this one. From the snow-capped mountains in the north to desert terrain in the south, this route has it all. Start in the capital or Iran and finish your journey in Qeshm, on the Persian Gulf. This route is around 1,500 kilometres long and usually takes two weeks to complete. Along the way, you’ll pass the beautiful ancient village of Abyaneh and see the incredibly stunning and unique architecture in Isfahan, Kashan, Shiraz and Yazd. Just note that Iran is quite cold in the winter and very hot in the summer, so choose the spring for your trip, if possible.

These are just some of the most amazing road-trips you can take in the near future, but they are certainly worth your consideration. So, start planning and have a great time, while creating some memories that will stay with you forever.
