6 Affordable Ideas That Will Turn Your Small Bathroom into a Spa

In theory, a bathroom is supposed to be a functional room that contains a bath/shower, toilet and a faucet; in reality, however, it tends to be so much more than that. First of all, it is a first place you visit once you get up in the morning and the last place you visit before you go to sleep. It is also a place where you go to relax and a place where you come to think (no wonder that strangest things that come to mind are referred to as shower thoughts). In a way, it is our own private oasis, our own little spa. With this in mind, here are six affordable tips that could help emphasize this notion even more.

1. Frame mirrors
Every bathroom needs a mirror and seeing how most of the panes are more or less the same (aside from their dimensions and shape), it is the frame that makes all the difference. In order to save some money and at the same time get the right mirror for your bathroom, you could just buy an ordinary mirror and then have it framed. Aside from being a cheaper and a more customizable option, this practice will also add some personal value to this particular item (due to all the effort and research you invested in it).

2. Display art
Another thing you could do in your bathroom is display some art. Everyone knows that the right size of the window might expand the room visually and make it seem as an extension of the outdoors. Well, a similar thing can be done with wall art. Placing it strategically in your bathroom can have a captivating effect. For example, if you do it right, a carefully placed photo of a waterfall may even seem life-like.

3. The choice of bath
Regardless of the theme you choose, a right bath will be essential for all your remodeling efforts. Either way you look at it, your bath is always the focal point of the room. Therefore, the choice of the type of bath (freestanding, small, concealed), the color and the material (stone, ceramics, fiberglass, etc.) are bound to play a vital role in its appearance.  Furthermore, seeing how it is the place where people relax, you need to make sure it is big and comfortable enough for each member of your household. Luckily, there are plenty of stylish yet quality baths on the market nowadays, so the assort than satisfying.

4. Dimmed lights
Everyone knows that candles are ideal for enhancing the romantic ambiance, but they are not particularly practical. Instead, you could simply get a dimmer that would allow you to soften your lights should you feel the need for it. Of course, nothing prevents you from lighting a scented candle every now and then, but as far as the light and the ambiance go, these dimmers have you covered.

5. Moss bathroom mat
There is nothing that can add to a spa-like ambiance like the feeling of fresh moss underneath your feet. Luckily, with the help of a moss mat, you can have just that in your very own home. The best thing about it is that it’s completely self-sustainable. You see, the moisture dripping down your body when you step out of the bath is more than enough to keep it lush and green.

6. Make it cozy
Finally, for a spa-like sensation, you need to accessorize adequately. The main goal of this is to create an atmosphere that is as cozy and soft-looking as possible. We are talking about the right choice of bathroom slippers, towels and even bathrobe to match this theme. Needless to say, all of this combined still won’t be expensive, which makes this an incredibly frugal, yet efficient idea.

When combined, the above-listed six items can really make a change in your bathroom. Sure, there are other ideas that could easily find their way on this list, but the main criteria were price and space requirements. As a result, each of the above-mentioned six ideas can be brought to life in even the tiniest of bathrooms and even on the tightest of budgets.
