Buendia Food By The Court: Shang Kee

In less than a year, Buendia Food by the Court has already established itself as a favorite foodie destination and hangout in Makati City. Launched early this year by SUDECO, the unique food park, which also houses a basketball court, started out with 13 merchants. Today, BFBTC has a total of 27 merchants serving a variety of unique, mouthwatering food concepts. The first of its kind in Makati, Buendia Food by the Court is an extensive food park with its own basketball court, located conveniently in the middle of the metro.

Whether you want to burn a few calories post binge, work up an after-game appetite, or you simply want to chill with friends in a hip, laid back environment that just happens to offer some of the best grub in the city, BFBTC is your best bet. Buendia Food by the Court, with its wide variety of curated food options, has something for everyone.

I've featured and introduced Buendia Food by the Court in another post, which you can read here: Buendia Food by the Court: Food, Fun, and Basketball, and the next few blog posts will focus on each of the food stalls that we tried that afternoon.

Another Asian food stall in BFBTC is Shang Kee Buns PH. This stall offers you savory steamed buns with fillings of your choice of pork or chicken with secret spices and slices of veggies. If you’re tired of the usual sandwich, then you should try their over-sized cua paos. We got to try two varieties of them: Classic Pork Belly and Crispy Chicken. Shang Kee’s comes in good sized buns that are tasty, soft and pillowy.

The Classic Pork Belly had a good size of slow-cooked pork belly with a sweet-savory sauce together with cucumber and lettuce topped with crushed peanuts. It was pretty good and my favorite between the two. I like that the pork belly was not too sweet and that the flavorful stuffing will keep you wanting for more.

The Crispy Chicken, on the other, hand was good too. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside; it had a lot of good texture with the added cucumber and lettuce. The generous amount of mayo sauce gave it more punch of flavors. These buns are good when they are still hot and steamy, but they also cool fast so when the staff hands them to you, better eat them right away.
