[GUEST POST]: A Dress Is A Girl's Best Friend

They may say the dog is a man’s best friend, but, let’s face it, with girls it’s a bit more complicated than that. For those of us who cannot afford to own a perfect diamond necklace, or a ring of the same kind, we can say that our best friends are dresses. They’re always there for us, they adapt to our mood and styles, and they make us unique. Even when someone else owns the same dress, no matter how unpleasant it may be, the dress is never the same, because of different accessories, shoes, makeup, jewelry, etc. It is you who give it a dash of uniqueness.

Being in use for centuries, dresses have changed to suit the needs for each and every occasion. When choosing one, pay attention to whether you will be attending a white tie event, a black tie event, cocktail party, formal event, a dinner party, regular party, a prom, or if you simply need a going out dress. All events have their own dress code, so make sure to ask around prior to it, what kind of event it is and what other guests will be attending it. It is crucial here to make sure the hemline is of proper length, since that is what sometimes makes the difference between an evening gown suitable for a white tie event and yet out of line for a black tie event.

Pay attention to fashion. What was popular just a couple of years ago may not be desirable anymore, and the last thing you want is to be the pink elephant in the room. No matter how much you loved the floor length or the sparkly embellishments of your favorite dress, the last thing you want is to be the only one dressed in a mini leopard pattern dress while others are complimenting the formality of the even with one-shoulder floor-length evening dress.
The little black dress is one piece of fashion you can never be wrong with. Just accessorize properly, to fit in with the occasion, and you are good to go. If you want it to be formal, the length just above the knees will do, but pay attention to design.
Accessories can also help you with your choice of dress. If you choose a simple dress you can complement it with accessories such as earrings, necklace, bracelet, a perfect clutch and shoes, but if the dress is already eye-grabbing, carefully choose only the discreet adornments so as not to attract too much attention to your attire.

When investing into a formal dress, you should always take your personality and body type into consideration, because you want the dress to perfectly flatter your figure and your lovely personality. It is no use going for what is the latest trend if it does not suit your personal style or makes you feel uncomfortable. Also, fit it in your budget, as it is not wise to spend too much on a dress you will wear only once or twice a year.
