I’ve always been a fan of buffet restaurants and it’s a good thing that there are more and more of this type of dining destinations sprawling in the metro in the past few years; that are offering new & unique dishes and ways to enjoy great food. Yakimix has been around for quite some time now and they are known for their offerings of variety of Japanese and other Asian dishes plus the smokeless indoor grilling. I was able to try their Greenbelt 3 branch a few years ago and enjoyed it. Last week, I went with my colleagues at their upscale branch in Global City Fort Bonifacio which they cleverly named: Yakimix Prime.
So you might ask what’s the difference with the ordinary Yakimix and Yakimix Prime. Besides the latter’s upscale location and interiors, they serve more food choices and uses better ingredients AND unlimited (yes you read that right) Wagyu beef slices for grilling! I bet that caught your attention especially if you’re a grilled beef fan.
The design of the restaurant is nice with won’t-go-unnoticed chandelier above where the food are displayed. I guess this has been the trend of buffet restaurants nowadays to give its customers are better dining experience. Although I must say that the tables are somewhat close to one another to maximize the seating capacity of the area (which was several times a bar/club before Yakimix occupied it).
Here are some of the food items available during our visit:

Good thing we were already there once Yakimix Prime opened their doors for dinner because we were able to enjoy the Wagyu beef to our hearts’ content. Because during the latter part of our stay at the restaurant, everytime I went back to get food at the buffet area, the tray where the Wagyu beef was placed always run empty. What can you expect, it’s the restaurant’s best seller and man, those beef strips are heavenly and almost melts in your mouth (exaggerating a bit there).
We stayed for like a total of 3 hours because we had to wait for our other companions to arrive and we really had fun eating and grilling. I ate too much Japanese food and Wagyu beef that for the rest of the week I disdained the even the thought of beef and would probably eat anything Japanese after a couple of months.
It is best to make reservations because from what I learned they only allow a number of walk-in customers for both lunch and dinner buffet hours. All in all, we pretty much enjoyed what Yakimix Prime serves, for around PHP800 pesos eating that much Wagyu beef (which costs around PHP900 to 1000+ per kilo in groceries) I think we pretty much got our money’s worth.
If you're celebrating your birthday, you might want to treat your family and friends at Yakimix Prime because you'll get to eat for FREE! Check out Yakimix's Facebook page or call them to know more about their latest promos.
