Weekend Getaway: Pinto Art Museum - Antipolo

One of the things I love is art; for whatever it really represents or means. It's something we can't really define inside a box so let's not go that way. All I know is that I'm a total artsy-fartsy and a certified craftie. I always appreciate art everyday of my life, maybe because I am born from a family of artists (but we'll talk about that some other time) and that I'm an emotional boat.

Art speaks to me in many levels but I consider my self as an old soul that's why I love classic arts, architecture and literature. But that doesn't mean I am not open-minded to contemporary art, because after all, art is life and it evolves and transforms.

A couple of weeks back, I made a trip up to Antipolo with my sister and two other friends; all three are certified, no-question artsy and creative in their own ways - they're all legit fashion designers. I've been wanting to visit Pinto Art Museum since I've heard about it and only this time that I got to opportunity to do so.

Pinto Art Museum occupies a 1.2 hectare property located inside a private subdivision in Antipolo, Rizal. I was surprised to find that it was a massive place full of beautiful art and architecture. It's not that hard to find it as long as you know how to navigate using Waze or Google map. Getting inside requires you to pay a minimal amount first and you can go wonder inside until you tire your eyes, your feet and your heart out.

The entire place actually will transport you to a different world. I for myself thought I was in some rustic Mediterranean place say Tuscany, Italy or Santorini Greece (sans the sea). The moment I saw the entrance gate, I already know for a fact that I will fall in love with this place. And yeah, there's such thing or a feeling that allows you to fall in love in a place, felt that completely during my visits to Coron and Siargao.

What I appreciated more during my visit to Pinto Art Museum was the architecture. For reasons I really don't know why... I just felt nostalgic; it was a quiet Sunday afternoon, with just the right amount of sunshine and heat, surrounded by all that greenery and beautiful artworks. I really felt I was teleported to some place that is close to my heart. I suddenly felt a longing, like I need to be somewhere else, where I really belong... and I had that conversation with one of our friend Mike who went with us to Pinto, that made me re-think my life goals once again... The universe somehow reminding me that there's more to what I have now and that I shouldn't settle and go for the things that I really want...

Anyway, I just got into an emo-moment right there. Moving on, there is a massive collection of artworks, sculptures and other media displayed in its several galleries and around the property. Everywhere you turn your eyes, there's always some form of art that you can spot. It's a place where you'll be the one to tire out on taking photos. It is that damn Instagram-worthy!

And, oh, the daybeds scattered around the museum grounds are so awesome! If only we had the time to lounge around we would have slept in one of those steel beds with white mattresses. It would have been a perfect place to cuddle on a Sunday afternoon with someone you love, only that it's a public place and people are walking around... hahahaha!  Sorry, my mind is all sorts crazy and daydreaming while I'm writing this.  This is what this place turned me into, it brings out the romanticist in me. Oh yeah, and beautiful courtyards reminiscent of old-world Europe are also tucked in some places, so get lost in this place and you might end up finding one.

One of these days I wanna go back there when less people are visiting. I would sit or lie in one of those day beds, read a very good book or pour my heart out through poetry and probably day dream of my "Dear No One"...

p.s. Pinto Art Museum allows photo shoots for a fee. It is open from Tuesdays to Sundays 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Ticket prices are as follows: Php 180 for regular ticket, Php 150 for senior citizens (bring your ID for proof) and Php 100 for children and students (again, bring your ID for proof).
