5 Health Goals Every Girl Should Set in 2018

Hello and welcome, 2018, the year when things start looking up for you. Now that the glitter and the pomp of the holiday celebrations have finally died down, it’s time to put those New Year resolutions to the test. Whether you plan to lose weight or simply develop good habits, health should definitely be a major goal for most ladies. Darlings, we want to stay beautiful, glamorous, and radiant, and for that sake, we must take a look at our bad habits and find a way to toss them out and replace them with better ones. If you want to bring out the best in you and start a journey to a healthier lifestyle, we’ve got a few tips to help right here.

Be smart about dieting
The reason most diets fail is because people go about them the wrong way. While you might be feeling determined about cutting down on sugar completely and eating only cooked meals, your body will fight you every step of the way. Why does this happen? Because the change you made is very drastic, so your body goes into “starvation mode” and slows your metabolism to a crawl. Extreme hunger pangs start plaguing you, so holding onto your diet plan becomes even more difficult. Instead of switching up everything in your life within a day, try a slower approach and, above all, make sure it’s practical. If you don’t know how to cook, don’t make meal plans consisting of foods that you would need hours to figure out how to prepare. Switch a sugary snack with some fruit, eat more veggies with your chicken, abstain from one can of soda and drink water. Go slow until you teach your body to start enjoying healthy stuff.

Get some sleep
Sleep is our body’s most natural and effective way to heal, so getting enough rest can help us recover from colds and injuries faster, make us feel more relaxed, and actually give us better skin that doesn’t have that grey cast and puffy under-eye circles. Not to mention the fact that sleep deprivation leads to cardiovascular problems, impaired mental function, joint and muscle aches, and a slew of other problems that significantly impact our health.

A better way to work out
Honestly, the best way to work out is the one you enjoy. Most people push themselves to go to the gym, hate it, and then end up hating exercising as well. A much better idea is to either sign up for classes of a sport you’ve always wanted to try, or to simply do it at home. Working out in the comfort of your own house is incredibly easy if you have the right exercise equipment, because there’s no one to make you feel self-conscious, you can wear whatever you want, and it’s absolutely just as effective as the gym. Get a stationary bike or an elliptical and enjoy watching TV while you work out, or do grab a couple of dumbbells and start weightlifting. There are a ton of resources online to help you create a good, inspiring workout, so use them.

Get moving
After you’re done with your workout, it’s easy to just sit down and pretty much avoid moving for the rest of the day, but walking can actually help both with muscle recovery, and simply help you get used to being more active. Walking improves circulation, speeds up our metabolism, and hey, gals with strong, shapely legs look better in heels and can dance longer.

Nurture your mental health
Mental health is just as important and you mustn’t overlook it. Stress and anxiety can impact our physical health, and if went unchecked, they can lead to depression. And ladies, life’s way too great for you to be feeling sad and hopeless, you’re far too cool to not enjoy it every step of the way. Take time to relax, have a little spa day at home, maybe go for a nice massage every once in a while. Avoid pointless drama, chill, and just have fun whenever you get the chance – you deserve to be happy!
Remember to put yourself first occasionally, darlings. Believe us, life’s a lot nicer if you do.
