Missing Coron...Best Beaches in Coron: Malcapuya Island

These are my top 3 beaches in Coron

Malcapuya Island is probably my most favorite and the most beautiful island in Coron. Its long stretch of shoreline reminds me of Boracay in some way minus all the establishments and bars.

Malcapuya's sand is powdery and pinkish. Its fineness falls between Boracay's Station 1 sand and Station 2 sand. It was like walking on refined sugar! One of the best sands I've seen and walked so far :)

cute and friendly dogs that roam around Malcapuya waiting for some left overs

The island is very laid back. There are tents and hammocks where you can laze the day away. There are several grills that you can use where you or your host can grill pork, fish and other meats. Wasn't able to take photos of our lunch, but we had grilled liempo (pork ribs), petik lobsters, ensaladang talong (eggplant salad) and grilled fish. the grilled fish ( i dont know what type) was so delicious, forcing us to ignore the grilled pork ribs; but the lobsters were gone in minutes! Lol!

co-beach bums :)

You can also snorkel but you need to walk further from the shore just to reach a couple of corals where clown fishes dwell. Or you can walk towards either ends of the island for some sight-seeing and just explore the cave or view deck.

The first time we visited Malcapuya, we docked on the main beach,  but the second time around our boat parked on the other beach (which was equally beautiful) on the back of the island. The owner of Malcapuya (who has a huge rest house in the center of the island) doesn't want the boats to be parked on the main beach so as not to obscure the view and I totally agree! We even saw the former caretaker of Siete Pecados, an old local man planting corals on the other beach telling us that this part will soon be the snorkeling destination of Malcapuya.
