BTW Fil-Mex Kitchen

Macon Santos was in New York a few years back and ate in one of the most well-known of fast casual restaurants in Northern America: Chipotle. She loved everything about it. The taste of the dishes, the affordability and the portions. What she liked so much about though is the flavor; why wouldn’t she? American-Mexican food is a familiar taste to the Filipino palate. We have a long standing relationship with both these countries and both have influence to what our cuisine is today.

This brought forth Macon’s brainchild: BTW Fil-Mex Kitchen. BTW is a casual dining restaurant that serves a fusion of Filipino and Mexican inspired dishes served into one heavy and healthy tasty meal that consumers will patronize. It is located in 113-115 Mother Ignacia Avenue, Brgy. South Triangle Quezon City Metro Manila which is just minutes away from Timog Avenue, Delta Highway, Quezon Ave. MRT Station, ABS-CBN and GMA Network Center.

BTW means bowls, tacos and wraps which is the signature offered meals in the restaurant.  There will be a choice for meat, beans, starch or holders, toppings and house made sauces. BTW will also focus also in consuming the basic Philippines Agriculture crops to help our local farmers here in the country.  They also have calorie content for each of our offered different variety of fusion dishes for those who are prioritizing their health.

I visited BTW with other foodies a few weeks ago with fellow foodies and we got to try what they have to offer. BTW’s space is a bit small but they offer communal spaces that you can share with other diners. BTW is quite popular for those who also want to have their food delivered via Food Panda.

Valenciana Paella - flavored paella rice with liempo, roasted chicken and cutlet sausages.

Mexican Sausage Sandwich - Mexican sausage in a bun topped with veggies, Mexican beans and loads of grated cheese.

Mexican Wings - chicken wings tossed in Mexican flavored dressing.

Tacos - open faced soft tacos topped with yourchoice of meat and Mexican sauces.

Carbonara - creamy white sauce Filipino-style pasta dish with mushrooms, tuna flakes and grated cheese.

Burrito Bowl - Mexican rice bowl with your choice of meat, vegetables and a side of garlic sauce, salsa and cheesy Mexican dressing.

Burrito Wrap - delicious tortilla wrap and Mexican rice with your choice of meat, vegetables, with a side of garlic sauce, salsa, cheesy Mexican dressing and chipotle mayo.

Cheese Quesadillas - soft toasted tortillas stuffed with cheese sauce and pimiento.

Nachos - corn tortilla chips with your choice of meat and vegetables with cheese and house made sauces.

Crab Puffs - 5 pieces wrapped in a fried dumpling with cheesy crab sticks filling.

Lechelatin - sweet milky drink topped with rocky road ice cream to combat the spiciness of the spicy dishes at BTW. The owner said this was inspired by the Mexican drink Horchata.

BTW Fil-Mex Kitchen is true its ode to the Filipino and Mexican flavors. Their servings are a bang-for-one’s-buck. My favorites are: Nachos, Quesadilla, Carbonara, Valenciana Paella and the Crab Puffs. Their nachos has one of the tastiest toppings I’ve eaten. Their quesadillas uses puff pastry which is softer and more fun to eat than the usual tortillas. The carbonara was quite creamy and BTW didn’t scrimped on the ingredients. The toppings on the Valenciana Paella were generous and the chicken that came with it was really good! It was more like a Filipino style paella than an authentic Spanish paella. The crab puffs had crispy exterior and soft, cloud like filling. Other notable dishes are their wrapped burritos especially their beef burrito.

If you happen to be around the area pay BTW Fil-Mex Kitchen a visit or you can order from them via Food Panda. You can check out their menu on their Zomato account.
