5 Ways to Update Your Fashion Sense in 2017

Beginning of the year is the perfect time for all the “New Year – new me” resolutions, and in some cases that “new me” part includes new style. Unfortunately, building a new style from scratch is not so simple, not because it is difficult to spend an entire day (or more) raiding shopping malls, but because it is, for most of us, financially impossible. Don’t despair. It is quite possible to update your image and style in general without breaking the bank. Here are 5 hacks that will help you be on the top of your fashion game in 2017, and beyond.

Get at Least One Rock ‘N’ Roll Chic Piece
One of the most popular looks announced for 2017 at New York Fashion Week was “bad girls’ club” fronted by Marc Jacobs with his glam rock vibe and Coach with their irresistible rockabilly style. What does that mean for you? Well, you can rock a rock ‘n’ roll style with at least one leather piece. That can be a classic wardrobe staple, such as leather jacket or a more daring choice like shorts, pants, pencil skirt or body-embracing little black dress. Complement this “young, restless and rebellious” style with a messy hairstyle and statement shoes. Or tone it down with a chunky sweater and wavy hair.

Fur It Up!
At the first glance, faux fur looks like something Cruella Deville would wear (without the faux part), but bear with us for a moment. You don’t have to dress up in a real long fur coat. It takes a simple thing like a fur stole to make your outfit pop and draw all eyes on you. For an effortlessly updated coat, just throw the stole over your shoulder. If you want to add some pizzazz and create a more feminine silhouette, belt the stole over your suit, or just wear it as a scarf.

One Dress – More than One Outfit
So, you’ve bought a perfect dress you simply adore and you want to wear every day? Good for you, but sooner or later, someone will notice that you are changing outfits about as often as a cartoon character. Want a cheat sheet? Wear the dress over your pants, layer a chunky sweater on top of it, combine it with tights and tall socks, wear a shirt or turtleneck under it, pair it with preppy blazer… Extra tip: it is the season when you can find a lot of great dresses for sale, so get at least one more.

Blue Is the New Black
According to Pantone’s fashion color report for 2017, this will be the year when confidence and strength will rule the runways, and blue, in its various forms, will be at the forefront of this movement. Take it from them and replace your basics which are usually black (trousers, shirts, dresses, coats, etc.) with daring Riverside (between navy and cobalt), lapis blue and navy blue pieces.

Make It Tights!
Tights are great (and cheap) way to spruce up your style. They can vary from colorful (yep, we’re talking about stuff like Greenery tights) to simple or patterned black. Wear them with sweater dress, pencil skirt, short shorts, little black dress, or a feminine full skirt.

As you see, there are simple ways to make your 2017 style look like you’ve just got of a Fashion Week runway, without spending too much cash. Choose the one that suits you the best or combine them all for the ultimate update. It’s all up to you girl!
