Aburi Express at Food District Signatures on 5th - BGC

I’ve seen Bonifacio Global City rise to a premiere business and residential district. I clearly remember from my college building we can still see Market Market, we would do picnics and watch concerts in its former open grounds. Years later it’s a vibrant city full of tall structures and probably the only private property that houses hundreds of restaurants in a small CBD. Being the “it” city at the moment, price points of food offerings here tend to be a little bit pricey. And of course, who wants to eat fast food or bland cafeteria food all the time right? You can’t splurge on food every day either since or you have to stick to a budget for your daily lunch.

Here’s good news for employees and residents of BGC, you can now find mid-range price points at the newly opened Food District Signatures On 5th! This new food hall is located in the heart of BGC and we can say the poshiest of its any district since it is at One Bonifacio High Street which is just across Shangri-La Hotel BGC and BGC Central. Almost all the food brands inside this new food hall are cult faves and mostly home grown! On September 3, 2019 was their grand opening and included in the extensive list of brands for you to enjoy there is Aburi Express!

Traditional sushi is crafted by combining raw seafood with seasoned rice. Sushi is considered an art form in Japan, where aspiring sushi chefs must train three years to even be allowed to prepare the shari (seasoned Japanese rice), and many more years before they have a hand in preparing the seafood. Sushi stresses the balance of flavor and texture, as well as its beauty in presentation.

Aburi sushi is the innovation of flame searing the seafood in order to create new textures while enhancing its natural flavors. Aburi-style sushi refers to sushi that is partially grilled on top, and partially raw. This creates a delicious smoky and creamy flavor and is usually done with a blowtorch. Aburi Manila is a modern Japanese restaurant that brings together a mix of traditional taste implemented with modern sushi techniques — basics done well. At Aburi Manila, they have taken Aburi to the next level by adding their own signature twists to this innovative style of cuisine.

I was gonna go to their UPTC branch for a foodie meet up like months befoe but didn’t get to go, so to find out that they are one of the brands opening at the Food District Signatures On 5th, not only that Japanese food is my all time fave cuisine, but because I really want to try what Aburi X has to offer.

During the grand opening of Aburi at Food District Signatures On 5th, we tried various items from Aburi and we also got to see the magic that they do on these sushis by torching the toppings of the rolls in front of us. Freshly cooked and best enjoyed while they are piping hot right?

We had the salmon aburi, bacon aburi, crispy sushi rice, Lorenzo maki, Philadelphia roll and the spicy tuna. Everything was divine. I loved the salmon aburi of course, cooked salmon or raw, I lovew them both. I liked that the salmon isn’t fully cooked so I can still have the full flavor of the salmon; which gets lost when the fish is fully cooked. I also loved the bacon sushi, it’s a must try!

Step into Aburi for a fun and family friendly premium dining experience. Aburi offers a vast variety of appetizers, traditional rolls, specialty rolls, nigiri, and sashimi to excite any palate! Whether you have been eating sushi your entire life or a first timer feeling a little adventurous, Aburi can feed your needs.
