What's New at Chatime?

I’ve seen Bonifacio Global City rise to a premiere business and residential district. I clearly remember from my college building we can still see Market Market, we would do picnics and watch concerts in its former open grounds. Years later it’s a vibrant city full of tall structures and probably the only private property that houses hundreds of restaurants in a small CBD. Being the “it” city at the moment, price points of food offerings here tend to be a little bit pricey. And of course, who wants to eat fast food or bland cafeteria food all the time right? You can’t splurge on food every day either since or you have to stick to a budget for your daily lunch.

Here’s good news for employees and residents of BGC, you can now find mid-range price points at the newly opened Food District Signatures On 5th! This new food hall is located in the heart of BGC and we can say the poshiest of its any district since it is at One Bonifacio High Street which is just across Shangrila Hotel The Fort and BGC Central. Almost all the food brands inside this new food hall are cult faves and mostly home grown! On September 3, 2019 was their grand opening and included in the extensive list of brands for you to enjoy there is Chatime Milk Tea Philippines!

Chatime was founded back in 2005 in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The word ‘cha’ means ‘tea’. So technically ‘Chatime’ could be loosely translated into ‘teatime’. But today, with over 2500 locations around the globe, Chatime means so much more than that. Since its founding in 2005, Chatime has become one of the biggest international bubble tea brands today, as well as being the only publicly listed beverage provider in the Taiwan stock exchange. As of March 2011, we have over 600 stores worldwide in Taiwan, Malaysia, China, USA, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Australia, Canada, Bangladesh, Dubai, England, and the Philippines!

Chatime is one of the oldest and strongest milk tea shop players in the country today with over 80 branches nationwide. It was reached the shores of the Philippines around 2012 or 2013 and was brought by the same company behind French Baker. I was introduced to this milk tea brand when it opened an outlet just at the ground floor of Paseo Center in Makati, where I used to work for years. I remember back then, I buy a cup of milk tea from Chatime like every freaking day. It may or may not be one of the causes as to why I gained so much weight, that I cannot confirm nor deny hahahaha!

So besides being one of the brands to choose from at the new Food District Signatures On 5th (FDS5), what’s new at Chatime? Well during the opening of FDS5 they made us try 3 (somehow) New Flavors that they are currently promoting: the Thai Milk Tea Series and the Marble Collection.

Celebrate the comeback of Chatime’s authentic Thai Milk Tea now made creamier with Sticky Rice and experience an indulgence on a whole new level. Two new flavors are Thai Tea Mousse Thai Milk tea. God knows how much I love Thai Milk Tea but it isn’t as easily accessible or available like other milk teas unless you’ll get the ones from convenient stores or go to a Thai restaurant. Good thing that Chatime thought about this flavor because I really love the strong yet herby flavor of Thai milk tea. Some of my friends didn’t like the sticky brown rice and azuki (red bean) sinkers that they are offering for the Thai Milk Tea, but as for me, since I love Thai cuisine (especially the Thai milk tea and the mango sticky rice) I love these two new flavors from Chatime.

Some of my friends also tried the Marble Collection which is brown sugar and brown sugar pearl. milk tea and they said they were good. I was already full from the large sized tea milk tea that I drank that I can’t even squeeze in a sip from my friend. Since Chatime is now just 2 blocks away from where I work, I will just try the Marble Series one of these days.
