Avocadoria: Here to Fulfill Your Avocado Dreams

One of the seasonal fruits that I look forward to every summer is the avocado. I love it when my mumma or anyone in the family makes a dessert out of it. The best combination of avocado that I love to eat is when it’s with condensed milk and powdered it, making the mashed avocado super creamy and sweet. Before, there’s a limited amount of desserts that you can make out of an avocado, I can only think of that one I mentioned plus avocado ice cream and that’s it.

Nowadays, avocado is even being prepped as part of other savory dishes, like guacamole and avocado toast. The latter, which honestly, I don’t think I can eat. As a salsa, it’s tolerable for me. Avocado perhaps for me will always be a dessert fruit. No matter what people say or what savory dishes people invent out of them.

That is why I got excited after I heard about Avocadoria, a dessert store offering avocado-centric treats year-round and probably to extinguish down the flames created by the mango-graham craze. But during the peak of its popularity, I wasn’t able to get a hold of it asap, for one most branches are far from where I work or live. But I was dying to. Unfortunately, it took me more or less 6 months since its flagship stall has opened to finally try it.

Many people think avocado is not a healthy fruit, but it is actually one of the most nutritious fruits there is. A typical serving of avocado which is around 100 grams, is moderate to rich in several B vitamins and vitamin K, with good content of vitamin C, vitamin E and potassium. Avocados also contain phytosterols and carotenoids, such as lutein and zeaxanthin. As for the fat content, avocados have diverse fats: oleic acid, palmitoleic acid palmitic acid and linoleic acid. Avocados are also a good source of vitamins B, E, and C, copper and fiber; their potassium content is higher than bananas.

A few weeks ago, around the holidays, me and my friends had a late lunch at Trinoma; we didn’t get desserts at the place where we had our main meal of the day. So, I suggested we try Avocadoria - which has a branch inside Ayala Malls Vertis North, and everyone was down for it. So we cross the bridge from Trinoma to Vertis North.

We tried four items from their menu:

Avocado Lover – comes in two sizes and has layers of homemade cream and biscuits, tapioca pearls, chunks of avocado and bits of almond and a dash of healthy flax and chia seeds. I enjoyed eating this because I could really taste the avocado flavor of the ice cream plus there’s so many textures and surprises in it. Although the pearls were a little off putting and for me doesn’t seem to fit in.

Avocado Shake – comes only in one size 16 ounces and made of real avocado, pears, topped with chia and flax seeds, almonds and chopped fresh fruit of your choice: avocado, mango, chico, guyabano, or jackfruit. Not my favorite among the four items that we tried from Avocadoria because the avocado flavor isn’t that pronounced and sweet – how I like my avocado shake to be.

Avocado Senyorita – homemade avocado ice cream bar dipped in the chocolate and premium nuts! I think of this as the Magnum 2.0 and comes in white chocolate, Belgian milk chocolate, and dark chocolate.

The  Milk Senyorita is coated with Belgian chocolate with a kick of Irish liquor and hazelnuts while the Dark Senyorita coated in dark chocolate with rum and then sprinkled with pistachio, cashew, and pili nuts. I’m not a fan of dark chocolate so for me, I think the white chocolate was a better combination with the avocado. Another thing that I like about this is that it doesn’t melt so fast like other ice cream on sticks.

I was looking forward to trying the Avocado Dream but it wasn’t available. The time I also visited their Food District branch, it was also sold out. So, I guess, that one is really a best seller and hopefully I’ll be able to visit a branch where it’s available. Also, I just love their avocado stuffie and I really really want one!
