Pretty Place and Good Eats: Cafe Freddo - BGC

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It may or may not be just a myth, but what if you are craving for breakfast but it's not in the morning or your day is upside down (i.e. you work night shifts). Good thing is that there are places where you can get breakfast all day.

And in BGC you can find a couple of these types of places because BGC is one of those cities in the Philippines that never sleeps because of 24/7 businesses in the area. One of those all-day breakfast restaurants in BGC is Cafe Freddo.

If you search Cafe Freddo on Google it will return a couple of entries. But the Cafe Freddo in BGC is not a franchise but actually a homegrown concept. Cafe Freddo offers European, Filipino and Asian all-day breakfast and other dishes. Plus, they carry the New York based Australian coffee. Cafe Freddo is also one of the few coffee shops that offers ube flavored coffee latte and ube pancakes (unfortunately I wasn’t able to try them).

I went to Cafe Freddo before my night shift started. I ordered a few dishes for takeout which included the following:

Beef Brisket Sandwich - the sandwich is huge, and the slices of beef brisket is also very generous. I liked how tender the beef was and it was really tasty. Moreover, this sandwich alone is very filling.

Nasi Goreng - chicken satay the nasi goreng was well spiced, very flavorful and had generous ingredients including fresh plump shrimps. The serving was large, I think this is two cups of rice. Although the satay that came with it was a little bit dry. Nonetheless, this dish is really delish, and I totally enjoyed it.

Mocha Freddo - when it comes to coffee, I really like my coffee in mocha form. This version of Cafe Freddo is super strong. You can still taste the chocolate, but the coffee still overpowers the flavor.

Dulce De Leche Cheesecake - at first, I thought this cheesecake would be extremely sweet, but the sweetness is just right. There is a balance of sour, salty and sweetness in this cheesecake.

I really liked the tropical ambiance of Cafe Freddo plus the very relaxing airy space and color scheme. It kinda reminds me those Havana Cuba themed restaurants. Tables are also spaced adequately so it kinda gives you the peace and privacy when you dine. Plus, the staff gives you a warm welcome and a cheerful service.
