BBQ Parties Made Easy With The Plaza Catering

Barbecues and cookouts - there's no doubt that eating outdoors would be the highlight of this summer’s party happenings. I guess nothing beats meats that are cooked low and slow, and sides infused with comfort food flavors, may it be on your backyard, your village clubhouse or anywhere else, and most especially enjoying such festivities with your dear loved ones. I love barbeque, both local and international versions, and any invitation to eat them or at any BBQ-themed gathering, I won’t never say no to it, the answer is always a big “yes, count me in.” After all, nothing brings people together more than food, and nothing does that well than a barbecue, which I see as the ultimate way to meet new people.

When it comes to menu planning for your BBQ Party especially if you’re inviting more than 10 persons to an afternoon of grilling, we all know that the worst part of hosting any get-together is the party planning stress. As much as possible we all want to enjoy a party to the fullest level and be able to mingle and entertain your guests all throughout. But if you’re the one doing all the cooking and prepping that is impossible to achieve.

Well, The Plaza Catering recently launched their BBQ Catering Menu that will help you execute a hassle-free BBQ party. Almost every part of this world, there’s always a version of barbeque, but many would agree with me when I say, the American Barbeque is the most popular of them all. I guess Americans know how to fire up their grill for and pick a collection of impressive outdoor-inspired recipes that will go well with grilled meats. This is the first of its kind in the Philippines and so far the only catering company that offers a true Southern American BBQ menu line-up.

The Plaza Inc., pioneers in the food and restaurant industry and culinary innovators for the past five decades, was founded in 1965 by husband and wife team Joe and Meldy Reyes. The Plaza has established its ground to cater to foreign and local dignitaries and to the homes of Manila’s elite. The Plaza caters to both private occasions and corporate events. Presently, in addition to servicing the exclusive Wack-Wack Golf & Country Club, The Plaza is one of only five accredited caterers at the SMX Convention Center beside the SM Mall of Asia Complex. It also services other venues such as One Esplanade, NBC Tent, Rockwell Tent, Le Pavilion, Coconut Palace, to name a few.

Grill Master, Raymund A. Reyes, a.k.a. SkiRay

The Plaza Inc., has done a couple of these BBQ parties in the past and because those were successful, they decided to permanently include it to the line of products and services that they have to offer. The formal launching that was held at Wack-Wack Golf and Country Club featured The Plaza’s resident grill master, Raymund A. Reyes, a.k.a. SkiRay, who also happens to be the Chief Finance Officer of The Plaza. His signature BBQ items are the Norwegian salmon on cedar plank done four-ways: with Dijon mustard, Thai sauce, salmon spice and dill salt, the Cajun beer can chicken, and baby back ribs. Meats paired well with Ski Ray’s BBQ sauce and Ski Ray’s Boozy BBQ sauce.

Other items prepared by The Plaza are their mini cream cheese burgers, assorted sausages with onions and peppers and the newest addition to their BBQ line, the smoked beef rib served with a gravy or with SkiRay’s Boozy BBQ sauce. Side dishes include, Mexican elote salad, roasted garlic and cheddar mashed potatoes, baked beans, yellow rice and more. You also have the option to add in a live mac & cheese station, or a fajita and taco station. As well as other signature dishes by The Plaza such as The Plaza Premium Baked Ham, Roast Angus Corned Beef, New York-style Hot Pastrami and much more.

There is really no better way to enjoy the company of others with a great BBQ party on a fine summer afternoon. It is a great way to spend time with friends and family members, enjoy delicious food and have an all-around great time. I enjoyed all the grilled meats, sides and desserts offered by The Plaza, of course (I tried everything and all were so good!) while I catch up with my friends and met new & wonderful people.
