Veggie Guys at Malingap Food Central

Filipinos love to eat, that’s why the food industry here is steadily growing for years. Malls and town centers are rising up from the ground like mushrooms filled with both old and new restaurants. Also, I have noticed that after the success of Maginhawa, Lilac and Kapitolyo, a lot of food parks are springing around the metro. This is great because you can just go to one place, eat and try different kinds of food and cuisines to your heart’s content without going from one place to another. Food parks/halls are great if you’re in for a good food tripping!

I haven’t been to food parks lately, mostly I go to stand alone restaurants, but for a change I went to Malingap Food Hall with my friends last weekend. Malingap is one of the streets inside Teacher’s Village in Quezon City and in the same neighborhood with the famous foodie destination: Maginhawa Street.

Malingap Food Hall is different from food parks since it’s indoors and airconditioned. The place is colorful, and you can find nice selections of food stalls inside without getting too overwhelmed. The concept was brought about by the same people behind Pino Restaurant (which you can find just across the street) and each food brand is carefully chosen by the them.

There are parking spaces in front of the food hall too which is great since around this area, looking for parking can be quite tedious. I believe Malingap Food Hall opened back in 2017 and many brands have come and go from there. While I was researching about Malingap Food Hall, I’ve seen some brands that are now in malls or already have their own full-blown restaurants. As of the moment there 7 stores inside Malingap Food Hall and we tried items from 3 stores: Harvest by Kabs, Veggie Guys and B Wings x Señor Park.

Veggie Guys is the last of the 4 brands that we tried at Malingap Central Food Hall. It has been providing patrons with heart-healthy home cooked meals since September 2018. Their offerings are for those who consider themselves vegetarians and those who want to start eating healthy without compromising taste or without eating bland and boring food. Everything that we tried from Veggie Guys is plant-based! Could you even believe that! No joke!

Soy Protein Isaw – made of soy protein to look like chicken intestine skewers. I can’t believe it either and so were my friends. Taste-wise it wasn’t as irony as the real thing but gives you all the feels of eating isaw. Perfect for those recently turned vegetarians and misses these all-time fave street food.

Ampalya Con Carne – just like home cooking sans the real pork or beef meat as this uses veggie meat that has the same texture of the real thing.

Veggie Siomai – made of chopped veggies and wrapped in wanton wrappers. These are really good in IMO, you still get to enjoy your Chinese dimsum fave less the guilt.

Coffee Jelly – need some cool caffeine fix? Here’s your answer! It has coffee jelly and tapioca balls for added texture too.

Veggie Guys also offer party and catering packages for when you want to throw a healthy party. Veggie Guys aims to give their beloved clients the finest vegetarian / vegan food experience in the region and beyond. If you also want to try their dishes but can’t visit Malingap Food Hall, you can order via GrabFood, Lalamove or FoodPanda and have them delivered right to your doorstep.
