Buffet Breakfast at Bistro Restaurant - City Garden Hotel Makati

For years, breakfast has been believed to be the most beneficial meal of the day as it breaks the overnight fasting that happens when we sleep, as it replenishes the supply of glucose. Personally speaking I find it hard to function on an empty stomach no matter what kind of job you do.

Although it’s rarely that I eat a complete breakfast on a regular basis; I usually do brunch (the literal meaning of it) because of work schedule. But if given the chance or if I don’t need to prep so early for work, I would always get a hearty breakfast. That’s why I enjoy breakfast when I do staycations at hotels, especially that most offer buffet breakfasts.

I love buffet breakfast for so many reasons but the two top most reasons are: you have so many options and cover a lot of cuisines and breakfast hours are longer than usual so you can enjoy eating and relaxing for an extended amount of time. During our staycation at City Garden Hotel Makati (which I will blog about very soon) I and my friends were able to try out their Breakfast Buffet at their in-house restaurant Bistro.

Bistro Restaurant is located at the 2nd floor of City Garden Hotel Makati. It invites its guests to try on their wide array of dishes from their breakfast buffet with the aim of reminding everyone of the benefits of having breakfast on a daily routine to fuel the body and give the energy that one needs. The place can accommodate I think around 80 to a 100 people and mostly there are long tables in the middle of the room and regular ones by the window. The waiting staff is attentive and always ready to accommodate any of your needs and requests.

Bistro offers a humble selection of both local and international dishes, not underwhelming nor overwhelming. On one side you can find the lighter dishes which include the bread section with a variety of breads and spreads.  Here is where you can also find soup, cereals, slices of fresh fruits, salads and dressings plus the fruit juices.

My favorite station is the eggs and pancake station. Here you can customize your egg. I had mine cooked omelet with ham, cheese and mushrooms. Every one of us loved their pancakes; they are not super fluffy but not too dense as well. The butter cream spread for the pancakes topped with the maple syrup was super good that I think most of us went for seconds and third servings.

The third station is where you can find the main dishes. They have fried rice which I love because it tasted like Chinese Yang Chow fried rice. For the main dishes I don’t think these are constant dishes (I’m really not sure) but there’s ham, sausages, sautéed mushrooms, mixed vegetables, chicken pastel, sweet and sour fish, Lucban longganisa, corned beef, hashed browns etc. I liked the corned beef because it wasn’t saucy like how some do it and how it is done in our home. The Lucban longganisa was a hit with me too because this is one of the Filipino sausages that I really really love to eat when I have the chance to.

City Garden Hotel Makati’s Bistro Restaurant’s Buffet Breakfast also comes with unlimited bacon, danggit and tuyo which are available upon request. Can I just say how much I love those three things! I mean, I can live off of those for breakfast like every day for the rest of my life, like seriously.

Ala carte items are also available for guests to order. For Bistro’s decent selection of breakfast buffet dishes priced at Php 495; I’d say that is quite reasonable for a hotel breakfast buffet in the Makati area. Their breakfast buffet is available daily from 5:30 to 10:30 am. Guests and walk-in clients are very much welcome to drop by. I think this is perfect for those groups or teams looking for a place to eat after a grave yard shift or for those looking for a hearty breakfast but are too lazy to cook.
