Coffee Time: Legit Cafe Inside a Carwash Shop

There are so many concept stores ranging from food to books to clothing and other things. I don't know if you have heard about a carwash place with a cafe adjacent to it, but I have seen a couple of those around Metro Manila. But it's rare to find a legit resto or cafe that's part of a carwash establishment. But guess what? Me and my foodie friends visited one last weekend with a fully-fledged cafe named Coffee Time.

And it's not just any cafe, besides that it's well-lit and decorated, it offers a wide variety of beverages, cakes and other pastries. Not only that, the food items are created by a retired chef who has an exemplary culinary background up her sleeve. Chef Amie Carr has her culinary education, training and experience from renowned institutions and hotels in Paris France, New Jersey and New York in the USA.

Coffee Time is a café initially created to serve their loyal customers while having their cars pampered at ATMT Car Care. At Coffee Time, they also offer Premium Italian coffee and other beverages to soothe your taste and pair with their food offerings. And if you don't know it, sweets and coffee are my kryptonites. Most often than not, every meal that I consume, must be capped off with something sweet, may it be a fruit or chocolate, cake or pastry.

You probably get it right, I was over the moon when I stepped in the cafe and what welcomed me was a food display cabinet full of cakes, pastries and other goodies. We tried a lot of their offerings both sweet and savory food items and their coffee and cream based beverages.

Strawberry Shortcake – homemade shortcake/chiffon cake layered with sweet strawberries and fresh whipped cream. This Strawberry Shortcake from Coffee Time is probably one of the best strawberry shortcakes you'll ever taste in your lifetime! I swear my life by it! haha! Layers of fluffy chiffon short cake filled and covered with whipped cream frosting and juicy strawberries.

French Macarons –⁣ is a sweet meringue-based confection made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food coloring. Chef Amie learned doing this from one of the renowned pastry chefs in Paris France (which I forgot to ask the name) so you would expect nothing but the best tasting and quality macaron. Hers is bigger compared to the original size. They are dainty, delicate and delicious. They will float right into your mouth and slowly dissolve into your tastebuds.

Tiramisu ⁣– is a coffee-flavored Italian dessert with layers of whipped mascarpone cheese cream and cake soaked in coffee and cocoa. This is my second favorite of all the cakes that we tried as it was very light and the flavors go well together even though each layer is distinguishable.

Empanada⁣ – is a type of baked or fried pasty, consisting of pastry and filling. They are made by folding dough over a stuffing, which may consist of meat, cheese, corn, or other ingredients. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try this ne but Chef Amie told me it is one of their best sellers.

Sans Rival – ⁣is a Filipino dessert cake made of layers of buttercream, meringue and chopped cashews. Its name comes from the French phrase with the literal meaning without rival. Right off the bat, it was easily everyone's favorite because it was the first one to disappear in seconds. It was chewy, buttery with a great texture as the meringue layer even has cashew peanuts incorporated in it.

Queso de Bola Ensaimada – is a pastry that originates from from Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. This can be eaten as a breakfast bread with coffee and as an afternoon snack. Coffee Time's version uses the Marca Pato quezo de bola which is an Edam cheese from Holland. So the ensaymada had a more pronounced salty taste in every bite. The bread is also denser than usual probably following the original consistency of its European counterpart

Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake – is a moist and sinfully decadent chocolate cake with layers of moist chocolate cake and salted caramel filling. A lot of us loved this as the salty sweet flavor was so appealing. Also the cake was ultra moist!

Choco Chip Muffin – ⁣their muffins are are not the usual ones that are overflowing in a cupcake paper holder, but instead in a cup. These were soft, dense and bursting with chocolate chips.

Red Velvet Muffin ⁣– ⁣their red velvet are dense, moist, buttery red velvet cupcakes with a tangy cream cheese frosting on top. Loved this!

Blueberry Cheesecake⁣ –  creamy, compact, tangy New York style cheesecake topped with blueberry jam and preserved fruits. The texture is amazingly smooth and the sweet-sour blueberry topping are a perfect match.

Coffee Time, like I said a while back offers high quality Italian coffee drinks. In addition they also offer crea-based, yogurt, tea-based drinks. Soon they will be also offering milk tea. Here are the drinks that we tried:

Peanut Caramel Frappe

Red Velvet Frappe

Salted Caramel Popcorn Coffee Frappe

Matcha Cream Frappe

Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie

Red Velvet Latte

Salted Caramel Mocha Latte

I ordered the Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie and it had quite the sour/tangy taste as strawberries can be sour at times plus the yogurt is legit sour. Either way it was refreshing. I got to sip on the other drinks and everything was good. The cakes and pastries that they offer here are all made from scratch so you get nothing but quality goodness.
