California Pizza Kitchen's New Premium Pizzas

At California Pizza Kitchen, it's always about bringing innovative recipes to life with fresh, high quality ingredients. With that being said, CPK will be celebrating National Pizza Days this August 15 & 16, 2017 and now on its 6th year run!

On these days, guests who visit any of CPK's six (6) locations in Metro Manila can avail of their BUY 1, GET 1 Free Pizza Promotion: choosing among an exclusive selection of five NEW Premium pizzas that embody the spirit of California Cool & Creativity that the brand is synonymous for. I attended the press launch of this year's CPK's National Pizza Day at their Shangri-La Plaza Mall branch and I got to taste the new artisanal pizzas that will be included in this year's National Pizza day promotion together with CPK's mainstay dishes and drinks. 

CPK is one of those go-to restaurants when we want good-old comfort food that always have that little bit of California in every bite. And of course all their new pizza flavors will be served with fresh, premium quality ingredients in season and hearth baked on top of CPK's proprietary recipe hand-tossed dough. 

The ambiance at the Shangri-la Plaza Mall is just like their other six branches: warm, inviting and gives an ode to their original stores back in California, USA. With wooden furniture, colorful decors, combined natural and electronic lighting and always with that Pacific West Coast vibe. 

Here are what we tried during the event:
Ham + Mango Cucumber Pizza - sweet seekers will love the delightful combination of Mango puree & house made Mango Cucumber Salsa balanced out with the diverse flavors of smoked ham, creamy Mozzarella cheese, and farm fresh Arugula leaves. This was a crowd favorite and mine too.this reminds me of salad and great enough became pizza topping. Will remind you of summer and the tropics.  Definitely a must try!

Pizza Italiano - You'll be busting out with your best Italian accent with their Pizza Italiano with Pomodoro, Mozzarella cheese, select Italian herbs and spices topped with ham, rustic pepperoni, bell peppers, fresh tomatoes, & Parmesan cheese. Your good ol' Italian style pizza packed with flavor that will remind you of Tuscany and Sicily summers. this was very hearty and earthy. 

Cheese Triplets Pizza - Cheese lovers will swoon when they get a bite of CPK's NEW Cheese Triplets Pizza generously topped with creamy Mozzarella, Velveeta, and Queso Quesadilla cheeses. Where's my cheese-lovers at? Raise your hands! This was a very simple cheese pizza packed with all the good cheese flavor and very creamy and quite sweet. As a cheese-lover myself, this one went straight to my favorites list. 

Asparagus + Chicken in Spinach Artichoke Sauce - Fans of CPK’s legendary Spinach + Artichoke Dip will be elated to discover that they turned it into a pizza and then some with their Asparagus + Chicken in Spinach Artichoke Sauce Pizza: Spinach Artichoke sauce with Mozzarella cheese, grilled chicken, & asparagus spears topped with chopped parsley & croutons for an added crunch. Another crowd favorite, this was a very unique flavor and one of my favorite appetizers at CPK turned into pizza so I'm rejoicing. I love how earthy this was and the asparagus added some good texture in every bite. 

Primavera Delight Pizza - a lighter option for ladies who lunch, the new Primavera Delight Pizza blends roasted squash puree, Mozzarella & Queso Quesadilla cheeses, grilled zucchini, red onion, broccoli, button mushrooms, carrots, and fresh tomato sauce topped with Parmesan cheese. This is for the weight watchers and the health conscious because this pizza is loaded with all the good veggies. Surprisingly, this was very flavorful and I loved it especially that I am biased with broccoli because it is one of my fave veggies. 

Garlic Cream Cheese Pizza - a singular treat combining their Garlic Cream sauce with Smoked Sausage, Mozzarella, Fontina and Parmesan Cheeses, and fresh mushrooms drizzled with a sweet Balsamic Glaze. This is the winner of CPK's Pizza Wars 2017 created by two-time champion Chef Romel Panaligan of CPK Alabang. I love this pizza flavor as well, because the garlic cream cheese was a very good combination. I also like those long, thin white Japanese Enokitake mushrooms. 

The Original BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad - CPK’s most popular salad since 1985 with their signature BBQ sauce, house made herb ranch and cilantro. I swear to God I can eat this salad for the rest of days. Everything in here is perfect, the combinations is awesome and I love the crunch of the wonton strips. During the event, I can't stop munching on this as if this was the main course. 

Thai Crunch Salad - Crisp veggies and cilantro with chicken and the crunch of peanuts, wontons and rice sticks tossed in Thai peanut dressing. One of CPK's very unique menu entry, speaks volumes of being an Asian dish and full of texture. This is a must-try as well.

Spinach Artichoke Dip- dip into this favorite with friends or just with tortilla chips served warm and great for sharing. CPK’s legendary appetizer, trust me, you will not be able to control yourself dipping into this creamy and earthy dip with just about anything. 

Four Cheese Dip – heart-baked fresh Mozzarella, Queso Quesadilla, smoked Gouda and Velveeta served with flatbread. Again it's made with cheese so I have can't say anything not good about it. Those four cheeses in one dip is just like a daydream coming to life. 

Honey-Basil + Lemon Combo Shake - there’s something about the combination of lemon and fresh basil that makes this drink naturally sweetened by honey very irresistible. I've done juicing before so thi flavor isn't new to me. This is just like mojito where mint was replaced with basil leaves and still was refreshing and tasty. 

Mango Watermelon Combo Shake - They say two is better than one and this shake is a combination of my favorite watermelon shake and mango shake. I was drawn to this drink because of the beautiful color combination that is so pretty. As for the taste, one can never go wrong with watermelon or mango right? This was a refreshing mix of sweet and tangy flavors.
