All The Fresh Catch at Sea to Table - Katipunan

I have a hate-love relationship with seafood. But like a toxic relationship I let it over-power me. I can’t escape its seductive power. It has its fingers wrapped around my neck. Ok I was talking about food, so let’s go back to that before this goes somewhere else. Here’s the thing, I’m allergic to seafood especially crustaceans like shrimps, lobsters and crabs. But with mussels, fish et. al., I am not.

So, whenever I have to eat seafood, of which I would never let the opportunity pass to enjoy them, I have to popped an antihistamine a few minutes before and after partaking on a seafood run. Good thing I was tormented with an allergic rhinitis and was on antihistamine for days when I and a few other foodie friends visited Sea to Table in Katipunan.

Sea to Table is the offshoot restaurant of Fishmongers Daily Catch. The latter is a family owned company that has been in the fishing industry for more than 60 years. They belong to the 3rd generation of fishmongers. Their business interest ranges from deep sea commercial fishing, fish pen operations, wholesale trading to international tuna fishing.

Fishmongers Daily Catch is Manila’s first fish & seafood neighborhood store with a home delivery service of 100% guaranteed fresh catch of the day straight from the sea to your table. They aim to provide their consumers with the highest quality, fresh fish, seafood and all-natural products, easily accessible to every Filipino household. Moreover, they Fishmongers is committed to the sustainability and future of our fisheries. They advocate responsible fishing and the use of environment-friendly fishing methods for the protection of our natural sea resources.

We can say that when it comes to fishing, we know it best! And we would like to share this passion and love we have for fresh sea produce to all Filipino consumers nationwide. Buying local fish and seafood from Fishmongers Daily Catch will not only let you enjoy the freshest catch of the day but it will also help support the local municipal fishermen through their “Fishermen are Friends” community development program wherein a portion of the proceeds go to the local municipal fishermen.

The seafood you get at Sea to Table are 100% guaranteed high quality fresh catch of the day, wild caught and all-natural products, straight from the sea to your table. Fishmongers Daily Catch is Manila’s first home delivery of 100% guaranteed high quality fresh catch of the day straight from the sea to your table. They deliver cleaned and gutted products within 24 hours from catch. Plus their local fresh fish & seafood products are wild-caught in their natural environment and not farmed, which means it’s all natural with no feeds. Apart from this, they also have fresh frozen products available.

Because the owner of Fishmongers wanted to share to their customers not only their freshly-caught items, but also their heirloom recipes for this seafood. Thus, the Sea to Table restaurant was born. If you visit their humble resto, you will have to: 1. Choose your fresh catch of the day (shrimps, mussels, fish filler, wild prawns, crabs); 2. Choose your flavor (lemon butter garlic, sweet chili garlic or Cajun); 3. Choose your spice level (original, mild or hot). Besides those they also offer Shrimp Tempura, Shrimp Gambas and Chicken Wings (honey soy or New York sauce).

White Threadfin Salmon in Cajun Sauce - local fishermen know this sea fish as “mamale” or “mamali”. The meat is flaky and creamy like just the usual pink salmon but it has less of that fishy smell and way tastier than the former. This is the first variety that we tried, with the Cajun sauce. The Cajun sauce has full-bodied and smoky flavor that goes so well with the fish and with just a mild spiciness to it. My first bite was like Nirvana! I literally exclaimed “Ang saraaap!” (“so good!”). Even now while writing this review, I can imagine how good it tasted. This was everyone’s favorite and it was also everyone’s first time to try white salmon.  This is for me the best dish at Sea to table.

Shrimp Gambas - the shrimps were plump and a little bit sweet and creamy as what one should expect with fresh shrimps/prawns. The shrimps were cloaked in garlic-infused olive oil with smoky hints of paprika and a little touch of sweetness. This dish can be both an appetizer or as a main dish. Well as for us we tried it both with bread and rice and they both were good with those combinations.

White Threadfin Salmon with Lemon Butter Sauce - we also loved this combination of the white salmon with the lemon butter. It's tangy, creamy, and downright delicious. Though I must say I like the Cajun sauce better.

Shrimps in a Bag - from what I can remember we tried 2 varieties of the shrimps in a bag, one with Sweet Chili Garlic and one with Cajun sauce, and we all love both! We were not planning to eat rice that day but these were too good to eat as is so we gave in and ate with steamy plain white rice and it was glo-ri-ous! I can hear the angels singing hallelujah everytime I I take a bite of those delicious  shrimps.

Chicken Wings - these chicken wings are the specialty of the owner’s husband and we got to try the one with the New York sauce. We liked it, but we weren’t really paying attention to them because all the other seafood dishes were bomb! But nonetheless, these were good too!

When we go on foodie trips, we usually just do sampling of the dishes; but because the dishes that were served to us at Sea to Table were soooo good, we weren’t able to control ourselves and we ate like we were like prisoners on death row that will be executed the following day. LOL! Well just take a look at the aftermath photo below. It basically sums up how we enjoyed this foodie meet-up.

Since the restaurant is part seafood store, there isn’t much space for dine-in customers. But the good thing is that you can take what they offer to-go. Or if you also want to, you can buy from their fresh vacuum sealed frozen products. Take them home and cook them the way you want it. This is one of the best restaurants I’ve visited in 2018, if I can say so myself. It’s a hiddem gem along Katipunan that I look forward to visiting again one of these days. Is it worth the trek to Katipunan and do I recommend you guys visit this place? Heck yeah! Like 1000%!
